  i never really had a clear understanding of how jw's labeled someone apostate.

  some time this week the elders will receive my letter disasociating myself.

  in the letter i accuse the organization as being a cult.

  I wholeheartedly agree with think41self, you are now officially one of us
  you apostate you.

  Actually, that is just their label, but according to the bible, that label applies
  to them for misleading people for over a century.

  As to getting back in, it is much harder if you are labeled "apostate", but no
  man on earth can say who has sinned against the holy spirit according to WT
  literature, so there is actually no ruling against being let back in.

  Its just that If they let you back in, they would be overly cautious in case you
  were trying to sneak back in to lead off their sheep like a wolf.

  when i was 13, all of the other kids in my congregation were taking home school, getting them out of the "bad association" in public school.

  they talked me into it too.. of course, at 13 trying to get me to actually do the schooling was a feat that no one could master.. i worked for a brother in the cong.

  full time, and never finished the schooling.. so...flash forward.

  Hey there BuffyRooter

  I wouldnt be overly concerned, your still young yet. I never started my university
  degree until I was 32 YO and my mother didnt start till 58

  Even so, I feel that education is still overrated and that the world economy is
  slowly moving towards small businesses and that many people nowadays are
  starting their own business and making good even with little education.

  This particular Greek verb is in the post plu perfect silent tense and as
  such the scripture should really read " Thou must bowest down to the Watchtower
  Society and Givest to the Watchtower Society all of your reasoning powers"

  My God, What HAVE I done?

  i copied my reply from the "can you confirm this wt quote" thread because i wanted to highlight the need to be careful when talking to jw relatives.. it all started out as a joke for my jw brother.

  for 7 years, since i left the wts, i've kept silent about what i've found out about the wts to prevent my losing contact with him and his family.. i sent him an email the other day jokingly wondering if he was going to stop preaching since the 20th century is over, included in the email was the wt quote from 1-1-89. he emailed me back, saying that he looked it up and it said "our generation".

  i replied by saying that the quote was changed because of the screw up.

  Let it go for a while and then act normal.

  We did this with my Mother and Father In-law and although their reply was
  terse and you could tell they were upset, by the time we called back 2
  weeks later, we pretended nothing was different and they did the same.

  Things have been back to "normal" ever since.

  It may all work out ok

  You know what I hate about answering machine messages? They go on and on, wasting your time. I mean, all they really need to say is, "We aren't in, leave a message." That's why I've decided to keep mine simple and short. I pledge to you, my caller, that you will never have to suffer through another long answering machine message when you call me...

  Well I finally got an answering machine. Now how does this thing work? Hmmm. Press record button, I did that, and the light should be on. I wonder why it's not working right. Hmmmm, I wonder what this button does...

  How do you leave a message on this thing? I can't understand the instructions. Hello. Testing 1 2 3. I wonder what happens if I touch this... YOW!
