i just reread song of solomon for the first time in over ten years.
despite using the nwt, which butchers most biblical poetry to admiration, i was nevertheless struck its beauty.

the new testament states that a warrant was issued for the arrest of jesus and that judas was the man that turned him in.. this warrant would have carried a description of the man that called himself the king of the jews, however this description did not find it's way into the bible.. this seem's a bit odd in particular since after all it would be interesting to know what the messiah really looked like.. i mean, think about it, if you had the chance to record the events of a man of such importance would you not include a description of his image?.
the appearance of jesus has been a subject of disscusion amongst many jw's (and other christians aswell i'm sure) and i remember many such occassions when the topic was being discussed and needles to say the opinions on this matter differed greatly.. the one opinion however that usually prevailed was that of a strong well built man, after all he was a carpenter etc.... as i said there is no such description in the bible, however, it was reported by josephus in his "capture of jerusalem".. now, i don't know whether this report is a genuine one or not, maybe jh can throw some light on that, but a copy of josephus description has survived in slavonic texts and it paints a picture quite at odds with the image many people have painted for themselves:.
'...a man of simple appearance, mature age, dark skin, small stature, three cubits high, hunchbacked with a long face, long nose, and meeting eyebrows, so that they who see him might be affrighted, with scanty hair with a parting in the middle of his head, after the manner of the nazarites, and with an undeveloped beard.'.

The slavonic texts are renown for interpolations on the original and often include strange statements. A comparison of the slavonic vs ethiopian texts of the book of enoch reveals just how imaginative the slavs were.

deceptive jw elders case#4c .
[the following is a little over 4 pages, but it is worth the read and it gets better as you get to the end.].
while i personally experienced several more acts where jw elders lied to me personally, the following is the most serious because it involved brother a. i mentioned him earlier where he was lied to by the jc and they used a confidential file against him that they developed over ten years a file he was never allowed to see or defend himself against.. sometime between january 1993, the jw elders on the jc were in the final stages of their meeting with brother a. this was before his first appeal.
Amazing is the word.
It is sad that those still in the borg are not more in fear of the elders than they are. They should be terrified. These men play with the lives of all those "under their care".
On another note, when I had meetings with a group of elders, I recorded the conversations using hidden remote transmitters that were very small so that they were unaware that they were being taped. That way, they feel freer to be their deceitful selves. I also did this when making phone calls to elders about serious matters.
Its not quite legal to do this, but then again, neither is what most JC's do.

that's the title of another poxy thread on witnesses online that has me scratching my head in disbelief that anyone could be so deluded.. i would love to be able to post a reply in the thread saying something like: "well, i guess none of you have any unbelieving relatives, then?"..

let's have some fun.did you find out some juicy gossip about a witness that you are just dying to blab?.
here's one from me.. i went to a hairdressing salon for the first time and the stylist was a camp male who never stopped chatting from the second he got his gesticulating paws on my scruffy mop.. my mum who is a devout jw was sitting reading a mag waiting for me.. next thing he's telling us about his gay male friend who is a bit down because he is having an affair with a jw.
to make things worse he is married with kids (the brother not the gay friend).. stifling my shock and trying not to look at my mum who is staring wildly and unseeingly at her mag i asked his name or address and although he didn't know the name he told us his street and district!.
My father wasnt an elder, he wasnt even a "good" witness. So I didnt get any of the juicy stuff you guys seem to know. I didnt even check out the good looking girls at the conventions until the breaks.
If I had known all this really went on, I coulda had a load more fun.
