The Anointed, the Numbers and the GB

have you ever considered the anointed, the number of partakers at the memorial and the governing body together?

if you examine the number of partakers you can clearly see that sometimes the numbers increase.

i asked some jws about this and their reply was, "those are replacements for unfaithful ones".

Methinks most Witnesses would claim that although Raymond Franz was an anointed Christian before and during his stint with the Governing Body, when he "apostasized" and was disfellowshipped, he lost that "anointing", became a member of the "Evil Slave" class, and was to be replaced. However, the replacement of an "unfaithful, formerly anointed" individual need not be immediate, but rather, take place after the passage of some time (perhaps several years). Thus, the number of recognized anointed members of the "Remnant" will fall both because of death AND upon their defection from the "one, true Faith" []. Accordingly, it could be (but need not appear as) a one-for-one replacement because the cumulative defection of not-yet-replaced Evil Slaves could take place over several years, followed by a total replacement in a SINGLE year. If the number of recognized replacements exceeds the number of those who have died faithful since the previous Memorial, the total number of "anointed" will appear to increase. Of course, such an explanation is necessary only if the number 144 000 be literal.

BTW, supposedly my own crown is up for grabs; when will I be replaced?

I did read - and still do - read the Bible daily. It was this practice that caused me to leave the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

What's the big deal about a Circuit Overseer visit?

according to the son of my newly baptised jw friends, they re-decorating their house for a visit and 'inspection' by the circuit overseer.

can anyone explain what the circuit overseer's visit is all about?

does he or she normally visit the homes of people in the congregation?

Heh. The last time the CO came to visit, I denounced the Presiding Overseer and his Sidekick. So (just maybe) the CO visit is an opportunity to 'clean house'.

Olin Moyle's son approved--then disapproved

i have a 1939 watchtower volume and happened to see a letter written to "brother rutherford" by peter moyle, son of o. r. moyle who as i remember took the society to court about that time.

here's what he wrote: "on august 8, 1939, when the bethel family was asked to express their disapproval of the letter of o. r. moyle, i expressed my approval by remaining seated.

after prayerful and scriptural consideration of the matter, i am now of the opinion that my action was wrong.

Are you perhaps making reference to Albert Schroeder receiving a "trimming"? It was mentioned in his Life Story in the 1988 WT (I am also nowhere near an Index).

It seems inappropriate (to me) to use the Divine Name when directly (well, mediated-by-our-Lord-Christ-Jesus) addressing my heavenly Father. Consequently, my prayers use the term "Father".

well, sunday my husband had the public talk in our kh, and they took him to lunch afterwords.

Ask her to explain how the Society's false prophecies, erroneous teachings, and unscriptural practices prove it to be the "one, true Channel Jehovah is using in these 'Last Days' ".

Tell her that you are discussing certain discrepancies in WTBTS literature with an Elder, and that he requested you speak about this matter with NO ONE, since it would destroy the faith of anyone who is not exceptionally robust in the "Truth"; indeed, he is unwilling to even discuss this matter with his peers of the local Body of Elders...

the book of acts does not state that it would come to an end.. not everything in the spirit word is of holy origin, but i detest the idea that because it isn't in a kingdom hall it must be satan.. .

Acts may say little about it, but 1 Cor. 13:8 does state that the gift of tongues will cease.

However, it does not say when. (Some of the writings of the Ante-Nicean Fathers suggest that the gifts of prophesying and tongues had already ceased to be in their day; perhaps someone else would be in a position to give citations thereof. (?))

WT Article on Mennonites - Wow... Double Standards

i usually don't read wt or awakes, but i stumbled on an article that shows the borg's two-facedness.. the article talks about a group of mennonites that had doubts about their religion and wanted to study with the jws.

after the first paragraph, i realized that i had felt exactly like those poor mennonites when i decided to study the jw's history.
