Here's a website I found that might have some good resources for you? My son is just turning 7 and I have always worried about him being bullied and what he would do in the situation. He is very sweet, fair and non-confrontational. We have tried to talk to him about defending himself, letting adults know when someone is bullying and looking out for others as well. I hope you are able to improve the situation for your son's sake.

Bullies
by Nancy Drake inhi ya'll.. i'm looking for advice on how to handle a neighborhood child that is bullying my son and other children in my apartment complex.
he is very mean, takes my son's stuff, tries to trip him on his bike by putting a stick into his spokes, pulling his underwear up, cussing at him.
at first i tried to talk to him nicely, asked him to please not do mean things to other children.

Just did the 666 post here on JWD... the devil's number
You tiger you!
I also thought my daughter would be better able to relate to this story because it is written more as a life experience than it is a JW rip session.

No offense Min, it sounds like you were being light-hearted, but this is not a good suggestion:
if you're a little guy, use a bat
A local Los Angeles 13 year old just literally killed a 15 year old by hitting him in the head with a baseball bat at the Pony League field the other day because he was being teased by him.
It's too bad there aren't programs through the police station to scare bullies into their senses (or are there?). I'm sure a good talk from a police officer would be more than a bully and his/her parents would need to change their stripes pretty quickly.
I once had a friend whose son was being bullied by the kid up the street. My friend decided to take this child's bike from him and let him know that he could tell his parents where to find his bike. She wrote down her address for him to give to his parents. Needless to say, his parents showed up at her doorstep and she explained what her son had been doing to her child. Her son was embarassed but the bullying stopped. Parents need to take action and I think it needs to start with the other child's parents then move up the chain to the school principal, the police, etc. Keep a record of it.
Personally, I would first speak with the parents. I would let them know what their son has been doing and that I would be contacting the police the next time anything happened. I would also let them know I would be putting the school on alert to his behaviour.
I would let my son know (as we already have) that he is to defend himself in situations like these. If someone is bullying him and trying to hurt him he is to punch them and let us know about it. Self defense classes would probably be a good idea too. We have been considering them for our children.

I read the review and excerpt awhile back and thought it sounded like a book I would want to read with my daughter. It's definitely on my "books to buy" list. I think I will read it once I have finished with Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom.
I love that it's written like a story.

Please help me understand about JWs as I have no idea about this religion
by unknown ini am looking for some one to help me understand a particular issue as a jw would see it.... if a single practicing jw was to have an affair with a married person (not a jw) knowing that they were married what would come of them or how would they feel about this being brought with a strict jw background?
i am trying to understand this as i have no knowlege of this religion.
any help would be appreciated.

Personally, I would think JW or not anyone who:
was to have an affair with a married person knowing that they were married
is going to feel guilty and not so good about it if he/she has any kind of conscience or religious convictions (even if he/she is emotionally involved in the situation). She/he is going to have issues with it.
Being a JW just adds a whole nother degree of difficulty to it all. The person will not only have feelings of sadness and guilt but also be faced with losing her/his friends and possibly family (if they are JWs) if the fact that they did this is made public to other JWs.
He/she will either hide it from others or confess it and be thrown out of the religion. Granted, being disfellowshipped all depends on whether it is one instance of sex or a continuous affair, which has not ended. It also depends on the particular group of elders (priests) this person meets with to discuss the affair.
IMHO - for him/her to get to the point of having an affair with a married person he/she is already at the point where her/his spirituality is not a major concern and possibly he/she is looking for a way out of his/her religion. In that case, he/she may cling to the person with whom she/he is having the affair or may end it once they are free of what they were trying to get away from (being a JW).

2/3 Majority Vote Required to Elect New Pope
by Scully ini didn't realize this before.
and before reading crisis of conscience, i had no idea that this was the decision making process used by the governing body.. it's rather ironic that for a group that for decades has so consistently criticized everything about the catholic church, that they would follow this practice.. is this common in other churches and/or corporations?
just curious.

Wonder if it's 2/3 of those present for the vote or if it's as Mickey Moused as the Society's 2/3 of those eligible to vote (present or not) .
I just love how they keep everything under wraps as far as the process and what's going on. Like it's some big holy process when it's really just a bunch of
elders I mean grown men I meanboys arguing and fighting over who gets to be infallible now . -
