I admire your efforts, and the story is interesting...but I'm curious why you bother. If it were me, I'd be tempted to just leave, rather than going to so much trouble to try to persuade current witnesses to leave...

Three Days At The Convention...

My District Convention Last Weekend
by rassillon inwell, iast weekend was my dc.
it was at the merrell center in katy tx.. for those of you not in this district, this is the one which encompasses the houston, texas area.
several years ago we were holding our dc in the astrodome, the whole district on one weekend.

Super Hot DC
by lost_light06 inwell like many places in the us we're expecting high temps in the coming days.
it's supposed to be 103 in portland for the entire dc this weekend.
i wonder if they'll be so kind as to call it off for all the elderly and yound children so there aren't any cases of heat stroke in the middle of the sessions?

Most of the conventions locations I remember being at were air conditioned, but there were a few exceptions. One that stands out was Maple Leaf Gardens in the early 90's, it was incredibly hot in there. They never held one there again after that...

JW Dad kills family and commits suicide
by Wordly Andre ini was talking to a friend about this website and he asked me if i remember a story about a jw family, murder/ suicide, i remember hearing a story about a jw dad killing his wife and his kids, i believe the news said that he stabbed and shot them, and that he may have killed them because his wife was about to divorce him.
it happend in ca and i think it was sometime around 1992-1993, i heard a little about it on the news back then but nothing more after that.
if you know about this story or something like it please post.

Lebanon and Israel
by Silvia Plath inwow you guys really made me think with the response to my faith topic, i was just arguing with a friend today over israel and invading lebabon and he quoted all the bible scriptures to me trying to show me that, israel were the chosen people of god and how god allowed them to go in and slaughter the canninties (first recorded insident of genocide) including killing small children, and i asked is that what christ jesus died for so god could order the slaughter of babies for the jews?
so you are saying that not only is god a racist, but not a god of love as well?
if god created all of us from the dust why would he love one race more than another?

Definitely not! Living in a fairly liberal city, and fairly liberal country, with a liberal press, I would be very anti-Israeli and anti-American if I believed all I read in the media or heard on tv!

well let's see i'm 24yrs old and since i was 5 i've been taught ''the truth'' i remember going to the hall when i was a little girl with my grandmother i attended did the bible study and i learned a lot and i'm greatfull even though i'am no longer in the religion i grew up like everyone else saw and learned a lot of other things of this world none which have made me belive anything i have found myself asking lately what is happening with this world?
why doesn't doesn't jehovah do something and stop the pain for everyone?

Out of Bethel and still recovering

Not to play devil's advocate, but it should be noted that while Isreal at least tries to avoid targeting civilians (and obviously they havn't been fully successful at this), Hisbollah purposely targets civilians...
