That's sad Renee, it makes me think about Ray Franz's analogy of the "Iron fist beneath the velvet glove". I wonder if he'd be willing to tell a bible study or return visit how he treats you? They (The JWs) look so nice and warm and friendly on the surface. But after Baptism a different side shows, the cold unmovable steel beneath the surface, is cruel cold and hard. Paul told Timothy about people having no "natural affection" the witnesses use it to describe the "world" but as you have shown here, it sometimes describes them also. seek2find

606 BCE vs 607 BCE
by seek2find incan someone point me to a post or a site that discusses the switch between 606 to 607 as the date for the destruction of jereuselam.
i was reading in the 1921 book the harp of god, and noticed that as of the date of that publication 606 was still being used.
i'd like to know exactly when the change occurred and what the explanation was.

Jehovah's Witnesses Are NOT Conscientious & They Don't Really Care!
by minimus inwitnesses try to make it sound as though they are very very conscientious people.
they care about you, your spiritual welfare, your everlasting welfare....but nothing could be further from the truth!
if they truly cared, they would see to it that they reached people to give them the lifesaving truth.

What amazes me is how much emphasis is put on "going out in service", but how much time is actually spent at McDonald's or the local donut shop, or running personal errands, or driving 5 miles to that call that's always not at home. But at the end of the day they feel happy and satisfied that they "went out in service today" and attempt to make others feel bad because they didn't. How many of the reported hours are spent in unproductive activity? seek2find

Multiple Sclerosis
by 4mylove ini have a young sibling with ms. does anyone here know of any current treatment that hasn't been published yet?
i had heard at one point that there was a blood pressure medicine that was proving hopeful.
my bro is ready to stop copaxone, even though we all worry that this will eventually cause a relapse.

For what it is, or isn't worth, I was Diagnosed with MS in 1995 and have only taken one medicine off and on called Amantadine for fatigue. I haven't used any of the injectable drugs. I had a set of MRIs done this past summer and the doctor said they showed no new activity. I don't know why mine is not progressing, but I'm sure If I had gone on one of the injectable drugs I would be thinking it was helping. MS is a very strange illness it has no predictable pattern that happens in every case. They are all different like snowflakes. I feel very fortunate compared to what I know others suffer. I wish your Brother well. seek2find

in defense of the Holy Trinity
by potentialJWconvertswife ini need some help on the holy trinity.
my husband is studying with the witnesses (he's not one of them yet), and is totally buying into the idea that god, jesus and the holy spirit are all separate, not (as i've tried to explain) separate, but also one in the trinity.
i have pointed out the scriptures in john that reference god as the word, and then jesus as the word later.

I agree with zico focus on Christ Deity instead of the Trinity. A few scriptures you could use are Isa. 43:11 "I-I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior." 2 Peter 2:1 "....by the righteousness of our God and [the] Savior Jesus Christ" (Note) The "The" in Brackets wasn't in the Greek text. Also ask him why the NWT uses the word "other" 4 times in Col 1:15-17 "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist, The bracketed words weren't in the original Greek here either. seek2find

What is your opinion?
by lavendar indo you think a witness is more apt to leave the wts because:.
1) ....of indisputable proof of the wts's falsehoods.. or.
2) .....something that personally happened to them that caused a disenchantment w/ the organization.. thanks for you input!.

Can the WTBTS change 1914 and survive?
by jefferywhat inthe society has changed equally as big doctrines in the past, but could this end the illusion?
i have read a lot of leolaia posts and have seen the attempt of scholar to counteract however unconvincingly.
im not after conspiracy, im after fact, could they move the end of the gentile times to 1934/35?

I fully agree with what Honesty says about the faithful slave teaching. It alone is the key to the survival of the organization. This was highlighted and emphasized in the talk at the DC this past summer. It was the last talk of the day on Friday and was called something like, "They follow the lamb wherever he goes" I a nutshell, it said that the "faithful slave" should be trusted no matter what. As long as they can convince the loyal to stay loyal to the "Slave", anything else can be changed with little impact. I expect to see the faithful slave teaching be more emphasized in the future and I think the talk will be put into a upcoming study article. In my opinion the "slave" has tried to take the place of the master, and will be severely punished upon the masters return.(See Matt.24:50,51) seek2find

Special announcement last night just for our area
by seek2find inwell, the letter was read and it applied to our area.
it seems that a lot of people that attend the district convention in our area are not following the rooming arrangements.
so the letter was strong wording about using just the rooms on the list even if it means traveling 45 miles to do so.

Blondie: That actually happened the way I understand. One of the non participating hotels provided a list of all convention delegates that stayed with them last year to the rooming department, to prove that they didn't need to participate in the "arrangement" in order to get the convention business. seek2find
