no longer being a christian, it has become a mind opening experience to look back and see certian things i once ignored or just brushed off.
yet now i can not help but see these things and wonder why other christians do not.. if you have ever studied greek, roman or any other cultures religions in history.
then you have no doubt read their legends, about gods and how things came to be, and no doubt you have enjoyed these and at the same time you must have wondered how people actually bought this enough to make it a religion.
Better yet, why only in one part of the world (a small part at that).
Paul, to King Agrippa, in Acts 26:
"What I am saying is true and reasonable. The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner" (vs. 25b-26, NIV).
It's the seed or yeast principle: start small and it will grow.
a side by side comparison of 2 kings and 2 chronicles reveals an inescapable literary relationship.
it is generally conceeded that the chronicler was rewriting 2 kings for agendas of his own and theological motives though there are some who feel there is evidence that both writers were using a now lost third narrative as the source for their respective versions, (perhaps the book of the annals of the kings of judah, per 2 kings 12:20?
) either way the differences are many and impossible to harmonize and reveal the motivations of the respective authors.

I always seem to have some kind of problem when I paste in text from a word processing program, including having to tighten it up when I edit. I also run into problems with some text not pasting in.

wondering if you have any input on this one.. now that you are no longer a jw what is your interpratation of the lords prayer where it says 'let your will take place in heaven also upon earth'.. i would love to hear your opinions on this matter.
as a christian the belief is that you are going to heaven right?

I've heard Christian pastors teach that this prayer is only a guideline and not to be prayed literally. I think this is done to get away from prayers that are memorized and repeated the same way every time, the way the Catholic church does. Those who teach this presume that this kind of prayer loses its meaning, since it can be made without giving any thought to it. They want to distance their congregation from that practice, and have their prayers be more spontaneous and personal.
So if the WT teaches this, I think it's done to distance itself from "traditional" Christian churches, primarily the Roman Catholics.

Not that I necessarily disagree about the trinity comparison--the Bible does speak of God as having a form, a soul, and a spirit, just as man has body, soul, and spirit. But, going by your definitions, wouldn't we be more justified in saying that God has a physical form like us--head, arms, legs, torso--like Michelangelo depicted? Would we want to commit to that?

man would also have to manifest trinity within him.
Sorry zagor, but being created in the likeness and image of God doesn't require this feature. We don't really know what this refers to; we can only speculate. It could be referring to sinlessness and purity, or the ability to choose, or reason, or other possibilities.

If any of those depart life as such (human life) ceases to exist, am I wrong? If divine being a.k.a god has the same nature that would imply that god would cease to exist the moment Jesus’ life form departed heaven and came to earth to become human.Similarly, it would certainly cease to exist when he died on the cross.
Not necessarily, zagor. John writes of the Word as being the same as God, and that Jesus was the Word made flesh. So, it is the Word in Jesus that is divine. The Word need not be confined to the physical body of Jesus, nor does the Word being in Jesus mean that the Father is without the Word. It can be like saying that air--the atmosphere--can be in a person's lungs, but it's elsewhere too. And when Jesus died a physical death, that wouldn't affect the Word. The Word would be spiritual in nature and not affected by this physical event.
i have read in some places that the trinity doctrine as presented by the wt publications for dissection is not really the trinity doctrine but actually is an apostate doctrine from the original trinity doctrine.
is this true?

I guess it would be pretty hard for more than one person to occupy the same space, but that's the claim. It's a far cry from the idea of God sitting localised and aloof on a throne out there beyound the limits of the limitless universe

i'm not sure why christians study and quote from both the old and new testaments.
it's my understanding that the ot applies only to hebrews.
in the nt, jesus supposedly created a new covenant, so many of the old laws don't apply.. the old and new testaments seem to represent two distinct religions.

This is relevant to the original topic: has anyone ever posted a study on echad (or ehad or ekhad, I've seen it all ways) from Deut. 6:4, "Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is one (echad)." Can somebody supply the link, or take a fresh look?
