Once a bible study asked me why are all Jehovah's Witnesses poor? I didn't have an answer. I mumbled something like "they are not intersted in money, not believing a word I said. It started me thinking about it. Of course at the time I didn't know about those in the governing body. All the Witnesses I knew could hardly make ends meet. I was so naive.

New member - quick hello
by melmoth injust registered and thought i'd say hello.
been browsing the board here occasionally for a while, and thought i might want to join in now and then, so here i am.
for me, a lot of this brings up odd memories from long ago - though for many struggling in the jehovah's witless grip currently, it's clearly a lifeline and i wish it had been around when i was 'doing the fade' (as i've seen it referred to, and a great way to put it, btw) nearly 20 years ago.

Welcome Melmoth. Interesting post. Makes me curious if any statistics have been done on this subject. I look forward to hearing more from you. As for your question-- I don't know. I am not a lifer and I am an agnostic.

If it hadn't been for the internet I would still be trying to get back with JW's instead of communicating with everyone here and finding out more about the real truth each day. It changed my life dramatically.

You have to admit some of the JW illustrations were kinda cool...
by marked ini almost used the word "art" in place of "illustrations" in the subject line.
anyway, i always thought that wt illustrators were of a fairly high calibre.
after the hideous 70s-ish gray-orange-green my book of bible stories era (and, yes, i know some of that had to do with printing tech at the time), some of the illustrations were (are) of quite high quality.. .

As a serious artist myself, I can tell you that the WT art is crap! If their work were submitted to any art gallery or school they would be laughed out of the place. Their art has never been accredited by anyone. Anyone with a computer graphic art setup could do it, and even better. However, they might succeed in comic books.

Welcome newbies! I also am a newbie. I was DF'd 30 years ago; tried for reinstatement 3 times after the disfellowshipment and never could get back (lucky for me.). I got on this site by accident--I thought this was a JW site. LOL. After reading the posts here the first time I was stunned. I never knew anything like this existed. I was awed--and freed the first time I visited this site. However, I didn't have a computer at home so I used the one I had at work during lunch break. I lurked for a year until I got my home computer in February, 2005 and have been reading and posting since. Mostly reading. I have this ineffective, rinky-dink, fisher price computer. I can't get an avatar, edit or spellcheck on this thing. But what's important is I can get online and converse with the brightest minds, tender hearts and kindred spirits of which most have had experiences with which we all can relate and empathize. I love it here and so will you, newbies. By the way, when I first posted I didn't introduce myself either. So, again I extend a welcome to you all.
I think you're gonna love it here. I do.

a brother at one of them conventions warned us about 'sites on the internet that can threaten our faith' and i was like "psh if this is the truth, what information could possibly do that?

The Story of Fatima?
by Blueblades indoes the new pope know what the secret message is all about?
why the silence?
it all started way back in 1916. btw, wasn't that the year charles taze russell died?.

I remember part of the story from when I attended Catholic school. These three children were supposed to have seen a vision of Mary, the Blessed Mother and Mary told them when the end of the world would come. And, yes, the Pope is supposed to have this information and will reveal it to the world when the time is right. However, since the last Pope died without revealing this information, we must assume he passed this information on to the present Pope.
I think it is all bs.
