Do you ever miss the ecstasy?
by logansrun inhello folks,.
when i started to have serious doubts about witnessdom a few years ago i embarked on an investigation which catapulted me into, what i have come to call, the "ecstasy of insight" and the "agony of doubt.
" i remember going to an out-of-the-way library one morning to read crisis of conscience.

Yes, I miss the ecstacy I felt when I first found out the truth about the Witnesses. But, how I loved the certainty I had as a Witness. MegaDude expressed very well how I felt. I was luckier than most people in that I am an artist and I am obsessed with it. I had to suppress my creativity and abstain from art in my years as a Witness because it was frowned upon by them. Now I give free rein to my creativity without feeling that I am doing a disservice to Jehovah. If the blues try to overtake me I just go to my drawing board and easel. As a Witness, nothing I did could make me feel free. Now I am. Oh, if the Witnesses could just see me now!
I must give credit where due. Had it not been for the Ex-Jehovah's Witness website and this forum, it never would have happened.

Regarding the Name Jehovah: Any Witness worth his salt will know and tell you that the Watchtower printed in one of the publications that Jahovah is not the correct name of God; it is the anglicized verion of the tetrarammaton, but since it has been used all of these years it is proper to continue as Jehovah.
They certainly are not the only ones using the name. When I was a child in school I knew Jehovah was God's name. We studied it in catechism class of a Catholic School.

Unbiblical rules and sanctions in the WTS
by greendawn indo you know of jws that suffered sanctions due to wts rules that have absolutely no basis in the bible such as going to university or growing beards or refusing to wear suits in fs, reading religious books of other denominations or anything silly?

I was once counseled for wearing sunglasses that were too worldly when I went out in field service. (They were pink)

JW nudists (aka What's wrong with this picture?)
by melmoth insorry if this has come up before but i'm new and it only just occurred to me.
we all remember (or still see regularly, joe-help-you) those wt illustrations of people living happily in a paradise on earth, cavorting peacefully with the animals.
everyone is dressed like retired wasps (no offense to retired wasps intended).

Melmoth, I hope that someone can answer your question because I asked it years ago. I was told that even though the earth would be perfect it would still have cold seasons in parts of the world. (North America, therefore the necessity of clothing.) I knew it was a copout when I was told this.

cab1000, you might also remind yourself of the Watchtowers's involvement with the United Nations. I'm sure you've seen the actual documentation posted on this board. Surely, they won't have an excuse for that, and Russell's belief in Pyramidology. Just remind yourself of all the things you know to be wrong about Jehovah's Witnesses and you will be able to combat your doubts. I'm not advocating that all Jehovah's Witnesses are insincere; just all of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. So, if they are wrong in what they are teaching--so are the Witnesses, regardless of how sincere one might be. So protect yourself.

Hi User18 and welcome to the board. To the question you asked:What you have posted is what I was told. This subject came up at a book study and there were the same questions. We were told
1. The sin of Adam and Eve was disobedience in eating of the tree knowledge of good and bad, not carnal knowledge since they were given the proclamation to fill the earth.
2. That if Adam and Eve had been obedient and not eaten of the fruit, all inhabitants of the earth would be perfect and be still living. (so if that were true, would we all be here?).
3. That eventually the powers of reproduction would cease when the earth became full. How this would be accomplished we weren't told. We were told not to speculate and run ahead of Jehovah.
The subject came up over a period of ten years. Maybe the teachings have changed since the last I heard, about two years ago. By the way Iggy, I got a lot of laughs from your post.
