the watchtower, and in fairness all other christian groups, claim that satan told the first lie when he told eve, "you positively will not die".
but was it a lie?
nic. Jehovah does not tell lies. Did adam and eve die? Yes.The day they ate of that fruit the dying process began. You are missing the whole point of that account. Satan the devil wants us to disobey Jehovah. He even tried to get Jesus to disobey Jehovah. Jesus knows Satan well. Jesus called him the FATHER of the lie and a liar. That is good enough for me.

many have tried to show him the many ways the watchtower doesn't live up to its claim of being god's organization, but he seems unflappable.. so where do you stand on him now?
I am sure you are right about the poll. Most are caught up in the formalistic part of the worship of Jehovah, as was his people were in ancient times. So many people worry about outward appearance and forgo the inside. Many worry about pleasing the Elders and others and not Jehovah. Yes we are suppose to be obedient to those taking the lead, but when they are not right, that is when we do not obey. I like to think of my self as a balanced witness, not an unrulely one. I wish I could change things within, maybe I can? The bible does say where the Shepard goes the flock follows.

hey dave. I didnt take this thread as an attack. I must say though that I am a JW. I am stuggling with a few things right now, but we ALL have struggles. It is not about RULES only. There is also the SPIRIT of the law that I go by as well.

it's been 2 months since i was df'd and 4 months since i've talked to anyone in my family.
for the most part i'm doing real well but every now and then it catches up with me.
ran into my dad today and when i tried to say hi he could only ignore me.. i think the pain and hurt i feel now is more for him, he's in his own world of misery and doesn't even know it.. anyway, i'm a little drunk and depressed and just felt like getting it off my chest.. hope this doesn't bring anyone else down.. namaste'

left the witnesses coming up to two years ago, got df about 8 months after that, still struggle with life after the 'truth', feel resentful of it all, but know i'd never return to that brain washing.

our signs had a watchtower drawn on them and said 'this religion is a snare and a racket!

the thing that was a kill-joy for me was going overtime, just ask my wife and kids.
my entire day would be ruined.
seeing brothers taking the lead when they clearly are not capable or scripturally qualified.
