  i hope this is not a repeat of past threads and i hope to get a lot of response.

  i am compiling info of how people are treated within the wts.

  i just read the post about a person being counseled for having baby shower games.

  ~~LongHairGirl: In response to your comment about padded bras being available. They are very rarely available for D Cups and above. I remember a young guy in his 20's always walking up to me pointing straight at my chest and saying 'nipples'. It was awfully embarrassing but there was nothing I could do about it.

  I got counselled for a dress that i wore that was literally ankle length but fitted around the bust - one of the elders found my bust distracting. (This same elder that had been busted for cheating on his wife and never got d.s. for it.)

  No road runner cartoons - way too violent.

  No Video music shows because its encouraging immorality.

  pfft.... they want their rules they can have them. That's no way to live.

  So sick and tired of the double standard

  for a group that constantly bitches about people needing to accomadate it's beliefs and practices, jw's sure are inflexible and intolerant.

  i realize that we all already know that, but is of special irritation to me right now.

  my oldest sister, who is faded and now regularly attends a worldly church, is getting married.

  I am going out with a lovely boy and my JW mother has asked me to please not get married in a church otherwise she wouldn't be able to go. (Not that I am engaged or anything.)

  I asked her why she could go to my grandmothers funeral in a catholic church if she can't go to my wedding in a church.

  Its the principle of the thing that got me. I hadn't even thought about it to be quite frank but it just annoys me that she would request that at all...

  I'm so sorry to hear your story. I think if you stick around you will enjoy your stay here. Everyone here has felt the pain of being a JW and you can be comforted in knowing your not crazy for experiencing the feelings you have as so many others can empthaise and support you.

  today i am 17. i just feel excited but i can't run up to witnesses and tell them... so instead i'll just quietly celebrate with all my friends on the board.

  Discipline for Lying -- Opinions Please

  our daughter is 10 and she is in 4th grade.

  she has been having a tough time this year with schoolwork and she has started early puberty (boobs, acne, pubic hair, crushes on boys, etc.).

  recently, we have been having problems with her lying to us and making up stories/excuses.

  Hi there

  My very close friend found school work to be incredibly stressful. It was not due to the fact that she was having trouble understanding the topic but meeting deadlines and being an overachiever crushed her spirit. She ended up not being able to finish school and that as well as a couple of other things led her into depression.

  Since that time she has recieved counselling and is able to cope so much better with things. In fact she has now returned to school to get further education and find herself a great job.

  I guess what I am trying to say is that perhaps your daughter is feeling incredible pressure and when she had corrections all over her rough draft she felt inadequete in her abilities. Getting her to talk to someone and improve her confidence etc could be really beneficial. It's good to nip this in the bud so that she can finish high school and maybe one day even get to Uni.

  i was stll fairly pure except for the odd escapade that involved just a touch of finger-pie.

  so there was some semblance of guilt hanging over my head.

  My sister ScattyKat tells me she used to have terrible nightmares about Armaggeddon. Looking back at the illustrations in some of their propoganda I think that they are extreme and unnecessary. Especially when young children are being forced to study them. I remember vividly during book studies and WT studies not only studying the literature but the conductor analyzing the picture and calling randomly on the kids to describe what was happening in it. No wonder people have such bad dreams etc about them!

  Birthdays are definitely something you should get used to

  I sure can! I've been stressing out about it so much worrying that I would feel so guilty but when the day came I felt so special and not at all guilty for it! LOL

  Paws and son - Thank you so much for your message. It sure was horrible going through high school being treated as an outcast because you couldn't celebrate birthdays. I can't wait to have my own kids and make their birthdays so special! Why shouldn't a parent and friends celebrate the life of someone they love. I am really growing to love birthdays let me tell you!

  jwd has been such an eye opener and making me think and now hopefully she will experience the same things i have.
