  JWs deceptively quote Acts 15:28, 29 but not Acts 15:20, 21, which makes clear the Gentiles are to abstain from blood so as not to stumble potential Jewish converts to Christianity.

  Nor do they go on to read the very next sentence after their Acts 15 quote which explains WHY the compromise on eating blood was proposed whilst the issue was threatening to damage the spread of the gospel.

  Apologies to Lawrence for getting into this on your thread about your daughter, I'll start a new thread. If I was within a few hundred miles, I would be there friend!

  EX JW numbers

  for those out there that play with figures we can calulate the number that have joined and left but how does the number that have left over say twenty years compare to the numbers still in.

  are we starting to out number them in some places?

  Ray Franz explained in one of his books how to calculate it. Possibly from year book stats on baptisms and membership figures. I'll post if I fnd it. I read in another book that the tuenover is about 30%

  What's wrong with anything Evanescence has done? Nothing.

  She started a thread when asked at school to do an english oral presentation about religion, she chose JWs. She aske for help with the research for that work and many of us suggested topics to include.

  She specifically asked us not to post anti-JW stuff, it was to be a fair presentation.

  As part of her research she rings the KH and enquires about the religion, and tells us about it. She may have given clues about her neighbourhood so some JWs are asking around. Her friend they asked might have slightly exaggerated, but what has she done wrong.

  And Defd, as for a 15 year old girl harassing a JW elder, Give me a break!

  Good for you Evan, I'm so impressed I might even become a Catholic.

  P.S Any JW time anyone can tie up is time preventing someone else being talked into joining a dangerous high control group.

  Acts 15:29 ABSTAIN FROM BLOOD. Thats enough for me.

  If that is what the Bible really teaches, then why is that not current Watchtower policy?

  Everybody, including the WTS, now knows this policy doctrine was in error. Please, read this essay, and I'm sorry if you think it wuld be running ahead of Jehovah. I truly believe this will be close to official watchtower teaching eventually, but not until the the FDS says....GO:

  I can see why they would love to forget about 1914.
  The story goes - Christ returned in 1914, inspected the world's religions in 1918-1919, then appointed the FDS in Spring 1919. This appointment was on the basis of the quality of the spiritual food they were serving 'down to 1919'.
  This is their achilles heel because we too can inspect that spiritual food, just like Jesus was supposed to have done. They are desperate to keep secret the spiritual food that got them appointed as FDS.
  

  
  Look it up on the internet: Studies in the Scriptures (6 volumes); the Finished Mystery; The Harp of God....'
  This will answer the question conclusively as to whether Jehovah and Christ ever had anything to do with this organisation.

  thick-skinned. This is not a word I'd use to describe ANY JW.

  I agree Billy, but why shouldn't we be, even if they are not, after all we are speaking from a position of greater strength and enlightenment.

  think the jws are the closest to being the true religion when you compare them to other organized religion.

  That's interesting, I think they are about as opposite to true religion as it is possible to get, except for cults or terrorism. They are certainly not bible-based at all when you accept that the New Testament fulfills the Old. Why did they revert back to OT emphasis in the 1930s?

  True religion is summed up in the golden rule. Even their doctrine about FDS and New Light can easily be demonstrated to be very unbiblical.

  I think Defd is a good guy. We are all at different places in our journey through life. I know many on this board are still hurting, but it would be good if we could try to be a bit more thick skinned. Many of us post stuff that upset others, and perhaps we should give those still JWs more, not less, tolerance. I may have missed it but I haven't seen a real offensive post by Defd.
