A question for my UK cousins: What are the different British accents?
by Check_Your_Premises insince i have so many brits and uk types in one place, i was wondering if you all could classify or tell me the names of the different british accents.
i think most in the states could be grouped by region and then each region divided into regular folks and folks with cash.
for instance in thestates, you basically have north east which is can be characterized by your classic new york or boston accents.

I am clueless on this one. Is there any famous folks that have this accent? Can you spell this phonetically?
Newcastle/Geordie- 'Kawasaki Photocopier'
There is no good way for me to explain in writing what my accent sounds like. I wonder which famous Geordie you might have heard of? Jimmy Nail? Sting? The problem is, I suspect they couldn't get really famous with such an accent, they would have to curb it so severely (ie talk a bit posh) to become internationally famous. Often people from 100 miles away do not understand a strong Newcastle dialect.

A Warm Welcome
You know her better that any of us do. Which information about JWs would have an impact on her if she found out the truth about the truth? My advice is to try to find a way to reveal to her some facts that will possible make her think about making further enquiries.
Have you been on the quotes site which only includes watchtower quotes but exposes JWs for what they are? Would she read quotes from past watchtowers. Research some and have her look them up herself and discuss with you. Perhaps the ones about being a prophet?

Research how they claimed to be a prophet of God (which they later denied) yet every one of their many predictions failed. They even quote how Deuteronomy shows how to easily test for a false prophet. Then apply the test!
Romans chapter 13:1 and the doctrinal changes from the 1800s, 1929, 1962, and the present, were a major breakthrough for me last week. The elder had to admit to no information from God. This is linked to the alternative service issue, when they deliberately let JWs rot in prison for years, just to save doctrinal face. They were the only religion who wrongly interpreted Bible. Finallt changed policy in 1996.

Me again,
My favourite Bible questions are the thread I just posted tonight headed (question for JWs only).
Another favourite is why they dont follow Christ's great commission at end of Matthews gospel ie they stopped baptising in name of Father Son & Holy Spirit in 1985. Now its baptism into the visible oganisation. They also teach the New Testament is not for JWs (except the 8,000 remaining anointed)
You're in good hands on this forum, back in a couple of days.
Which gospel do they preach (not what Christ described as THIS good news of the kingdom) Please look at Galatians & Romans. (& Johns gospel)

Hi
Never been a JW but trying to get friend out. I'm excited for you.
My advice is to avoid Bible study, at least for now. The history of the organisation, and what they have published damns them. 2 books are a must, Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom both by Raymond Franz.
Have you seen the quotes website? http://quotes.watchtower.ca/index.htm
I'm away now for a couple of days, but have word documents that might help if you pm me in a couple of days. Where are the chinks in his armour?

I could be interested. Would the Finished Mystery make a good baptism present for my friends baptism next month. Does either of these books help to expose the Watchtower?

Katie, A Warm Welcome to the board
Satanus, are you of the anointed class? Are you one of the 8,500? Have you got a mediator and me and my mate haven't? That's not fair! So is it true, there are 2 mediators? Are you really Satan under a cleverly disguised name trying to trick us all?

Thanks Satanus, your answer seems to confirm what the Watchtower says. But now I am more confused. The scripture is very clear on this, and JWs are scripture-based, right?
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a corresponding ransom for all.
So which carries more weight, the Watchtower or the Bible?

More from the same 1979 questions from readers. You see why I need to know, for my friend, who his mediator will be?
The "great crowd" of "other sheep" that is forming today is not in that new covenant. However, by their associating with the "little flock" of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant.
You see any JWs out there, how difficult it is to get my simple question answered. Who will my friend's mediator be when he gets baptised. If you dont give him an answer, and he makes the wrong decision, will you be bloodguilty if you dont answer his question. You can reply to me, please, I am not an apostate.
