Yes!! A little of that and a little of getting the numbers up. I'm just not so sure the tract is the way to go unless they are actually trying to go DOWN.
This stupid religion.( shaking my head)

ah, the poor watchtower!
( is that literal these days?).
with their contributions sinking and expenses growing, they may have to further reduce the magazines - perhaps eliminating the awake.

I was thinking the same thing Garybuss. They may be just trying a new thing too see how effective it is. Witnesses might be more willing to go in service if they didn't actually have to talk to anyone.
Tracts are easy to distribute. The average witness would rather not be bothered with the ministry and it's probably showing. They may be doing an advertising campaign for now to see if they can get those numbers up. I wonder what they make more money doing----donations for the mags or donations from the population of guilted witnesses?

did anyone realise that this was the case when they became a witness or just realise through time that this is the societies teaching on it?
.
each year i get annoyed at the memorial when the speaker giving the talk always refers to this point and then says how the other sheep (the great crowd) "can benefit from this arrangement".
I was a teenager when I asked how it is that Jesus said he was the mediator between God and all mankind. My mom explained that some scriptures only apply to the annointed. That wasn't what I got out of the scripture, but figured there must be something I just don't understand.
How they determine which scriptures are for them and which ones are for the rest of us is just mind boggling. What I figure is that any scripture that talks about sinners, do's and don'ts are for us anything else is for them.

these are just 3 things that i was shocked to learn when i was in the org.
they may not seem like big things to some, but they are to me.. 1. speakers at the d.a.
had food catered to them.
That shepearding calls are not really about caring.
Family would rather disown their children than parent them.

i have been thinking about a linkage between several interesting threads over the past week or so: here is what i think we can derive -.
* recently, a thread asks if jw are assimilating more into the world.
consensus: publishers, yes for many.
Go hard Governing Body!!!! Keep flogging the people so their eyes might open up.

a comment from a family member about an elder who quit attending meetings the other day was " oh they dont attend anymore, i dont think they're df'd but its known they started their own church".
ok so i didnt think much about it..other than it doesnt seem the sort of thing this fella would ever do.. .
but..today i read a story on freeminds ( will look for the link in a bit and will post it).
They may be referring to us all gathering here on our computers on Sunday to study our Watchtower with Blondie.

i have fully rejected the false religion of jehovah's witnesses - after 43 years a believer in the nonsense.
now though, i often find that i still filter the world thru watchtower spectacles, even after almost three years out.
i don't do it on purpose, in fact i defy the wt doctrine whenever i can and work hard to change my mindset to more 'moderate christian' thinking.
I follow my hubbys lead most of the time. I'm so used to everything being bad that I had to stop myself all the time and ask hubby what he thinks.
It was difficult at first to let my little girl salute the flag. Not that I didn't want her to just that it was an automatic thought. I had to actually remind myself that its ok for the kids to do these things.

i was just reminiscing about things i remember being said to me by elders about disfellowshipping.
a person can be disfellowshipped because of gross sin(could mean anything), being unrepentant etc.
an elder said to me that a person may be disfellowshipped even though he is repentant if it is gross sin and his sin widely known.. so my question is why doesn't this also apply to the governing body?
Could this be like trying to understand why a serial killer keeps killing? ---meaning there is no way to possibly understand how some people think the way they do.
Thanks everyone for your posts.

after listening to a few of the judicial comittees on this site (sickoflies being most recent), you get the impression that in practise it seems to be a clandestine inquistition more than anything else.. i am gobsmacked each time i hear the manner in which these hearings are conducted.
oftentimes agressive & in many ways condecending towards the 'sinner'.
i realise that there are some who may deliberately agrevate the elders and they are only human i suppose, but it all seems just weird.. i suppose i cant quite put my finger on it but after listening to a recording, it leaves you with a weird feeling towards the elders who are leading the comittee.
That's my view on it too. I was disfellowshipped and went through the whole beating from the elders telling me how I will die in Armageddon. This time I just wrote a DA letter and save myself from all that crap.
