While my mother didn't exactly abandon me (not in a physical way) she did on an emotional level. So I wonder if he has something here.
I always thought I was searching for truth of some sort.

your JW experience hides something deeper
by seesthesky inas odd as this may sound i believe that your continual struggle with your past life as a jw is in fact a cover for something else - i do not know what that something else is but i am almost 100 percent certain that somehow someone or something has used your jw experience to disguise some greater violation of your souls - any thoughts?

Two More Old Friends Died
by Undecided inmy wife just walked in from visiting my daughter and said two of my friends from youth had died in the past few weeks, they were brothers.
we grew up together as jws and my daughter married the grandson of their father's sister, that's why she knew of their deaths.
no one had let me know so i could have attended their funerals.

You all have hit on something. I have noticed a lot of people in the 40-50 age range dying whereas some very senior people in the late 70-80s age range seem to be doing well. Something is not right here.
I am sure it is not just a case of good genes. There must be some environmental or nutritional factors here that are unknown as of now. Or, it could be a combination of factors. I wonder if it could be a combo of: lack of breastfeeding when in infancy; taking of recreational drugs in youth; trans fats in foods; bad eating habits as adults; smoking cigarettes; more chemicals introduced into the environment in the last two decades or so.

Did you believe there would ever really be justice or real judgment?
by LongHairGal ini know one of the reasons some people got involved with the dubs was because they expected to see perfect justice in the new system.
the problem i had with this was in order for there to be perfect judgment/justice there would have to be a resurrection and god would have to pay back every person who ever lived tit for tat for every conceivable thing ever done!
this would make him the most petty god around.

I agree with you. I got tired of hearing how we are all paying for what Adam and Eve did. I also got tired of hearing about how sinful we all are. I know we are sinful. But it is not as though I had perfection and gave it up. No. I never had it to begin with. All this soul searching made me feel it was almost impossible to love a god with standards like this. Respect for the beauty of the earth I have but I would be lying if I said I actually loved god.

How do you think COs and DOs felt about the letter to all body of elders a
by frankiespeakin inin the late 80s or early 90s while i was still an elder the gb sent out a letter to all bodies of elders concerning taking up a collection fro these hard working brothers who have given up so much to be cos and dos.. how do you think cos and dos felt about the letter to all body of elders the expessedly told elders not to take up a collection for these brothers?.
i bet that letter caused a lot of cos and dos to second thought about the gb.
it may have made them feel angry.

It used to make me mad when a letter was read asking us to ante up for somebody. Imagine, asking us to pay for somebody's car and health insurance! How many people don't have health insurance and they are asking US to give!
I didn't care whether it was right or wrong, I just felt that I was not going to be the one supporting any wanna-be clergyman. -

Upside/Down:
Good point. As far as Adamic death wiping the slate clean, I think this belief accounts for why certain dubs think they can get away with ANYTHING and be forgiven.
All this belief does is enable them to be more unaccountable than they already are because after all if they die nothing matters. Right? This always bothered me and I think this is at the heart of why many bad things happen there.
I don't want to hear any of this crap about being imperfect. And their statement of "Jehovah will judge, etc." used to make me sick too. -

What were your reasons for not liking the ministry school?
by LongHairGal ini dropped out years ago because i couldn't stand getting together with sisters i didn't like to do a talk.
i hated it with a passion!!
i do realize that you did learn but what i resented was that the sisters were inflicted on each other in a way that i don't think the brothers were.

You are right. They have no real deep knowledge of an academic nature. The only thing I think the ms imparts is public speaking skill along with a somewhat superficial nature of the bible. But, since most of the world is ignorant of the bible they pass as scholars. That is, until they meet a
REAL one. -

According to them you can use it (one of Job's daughters is named after a horn of eye paint) so ancient god-fearing people wore cosmetics.
The thing is you better have a natural look or you will get tapped on the shoulder by somebody. Also, depending on what part of the country you live in the opinions differ on what is too much makeup. For instance, in areas around a big city the women in general are somewhat more fashionable and would wear a little more makeup. -

CO's talk: "Those who leave the truth say they've never been happier"
by truthseeker inyep, it's true.
while giving his usual spiel about how true christians should struggle, he says that some of those who have left the truth, say they never felt better.. .
the answer: "they don't have to stuggle anymore.".

This would make him the most petty god around. For example, this would mean that if I stepped on somebody's foot deliberately somebody would have to step on mine (and so on). This all sounds rather stupid. What I figured was that in those days we would be so happy we would not remember what happened and/or because we had a perfect body, mind we would not care. The problem with this is that there would really be no paying back. Something else would be going on, a substitution.
I just have a problem with the whole concept. It seems unbelievable and unworkable.
