I don't think I would ever post a profile anywhere. I couldn't bear to do that. Besides, I don't place much stock in them anyway. They are like a letter of reference: you never heard of a bad one did you?
The problem with posting a profile is that if you are over forty you tend to attract types who are looking for money.

by vitty in.
this got me thinking when i read ballistics topic about his internet dating.. now since i havent dated anyone for 28 years, i know its unbelieveable, cos im so young, but being married to the fella i met when i was sweet 16, i would really hate to start dating again .
anyway my question:: how would you describe yourself in a column of a newspaper or on the internet if you were looking for a date.

Soledad and FrannieBanannie:
I agree with you both.
Those idiot baseball caps have to go. There was a time not so long ago that a person who wore one of these was considered to be a loser or a nincompoop. This is a very inappropriate head gear unless you are actually at a ball game or at the beach and you don't want to get a sunburn on your head.
Also, those oversize pants that are falling off your ass. Really, they always looked to me like somebody shit in their pants and was carrying the load around with them! Besides, if you have a good body and a nice behind who would ever know? -

Can't disfellowship you for it??? Talk about going beyond what is written. Where in the bible does it say you can't get an education. Let the bastards try doing that. Yes, let them.
Then the world will really know how screwed up they really are. -

Are you honest when you say your age?
by JH ini know people who don't say their real age, like take off 2 or 3 years.... my mom looks younger than her age, so she sometimes took off a few years.
gee, i'm just the opposite, i rather say my real age, and wait for a compliment saying "hey you look good for your age".
how about you, do you ever lie on your age?
-
LongHairGal
No, not always. And I am not so honest about my weight or height either - especially if I have to put it in print. Everything seems worse in print. I fudge a little and say I am 10-15 lbs. lighter and I round off my height to the next inch.
Vanity? Insecurity? -

Good picture. There is a coffee shop near where I live. One weekend I was in there sitting at a table eating breakfast. Then some big guy comes in and decides to sit at the counter - showing six inches of butt crack!
I had to change my seat so I wouldn't be staring at that while I was eating. -

The one I particularly hate is in style right now. Pants that are low cut.
I cannot tell you how many times I have averted my eyes from an ugly sight - usually sported by women who were too heavy and oddly shaped to even be wearing these. Very few women can wear these pants. Only slender women with a good shaped torso and waist look good in them. I have only seen a few around. I once saw the top of some woman's butt crack! Come on now! -

Does the Watchtower "deny" its own for "legal" purposes?

Even if they don't actually deny them they are certainly ashamed of them if one of them gets their name in the newspapers for something that isn't particularly flattering to the WT.
I heard of this when someone I know got their name in the paper because of an "accident" of sorts. One of the local brothers called their family and wanted to know if the name of the JWs was mentioned. This family member in turn called me to express their disappointment in the fact that all they seemed to care about was their image. -

Elders: Do as I tell you, whether I'm right or wrong
by KAYTEE inin the last congregation that i frequented, on two separate occasions, and two different elders, i was told to do what they said, whether they were right or wrong!
this brought some ridicule in answer, from my lips.
the elders said to do otherwise is to go against jehovah.

This used to make me crazy with anger. Over the years I could see they were elevating themselves higher and higher - to an almost god-like status.

That used to get me too. They would tell you in their publications to be a good student, etc. but yet they would tell you college is no good.
In the old days when I used to write letters (thinking it would help), I very sarcastically told them how stupid it was that they said you should study hard only to be told you were supposed to clean toilets for a living.
This is really all about them being afraid of educated people. So they want to convince you that higher education is no good for you. The reality is that it is no good for THEM. -

I agree that the welfare state is a disaster but this has been talked about forever and nothing is done about it. While I realize that not all people on welfare are parasites I get queasy when I read articles from whites who are in denial about the whole thing.
