I totally agree with your whole post. I wonder though if the Witness religion feels ‘married to’ their stand against college and is afraid to change it for fear they will look worse? They look bad enough as it is.

I totally agree that their stand against college is the teaching of ‘men’. I believe it had its origins in some uneducated elders or COs in the religion looking like fools when they had arguments with some college educated brothers in congregations. I once had an elder admit that ‘college educated brothers are harder to counsel’! There you have it. The religion couldn’t give a rat’s a$$ if people can’t feed themselves or keep a roof over their heads. All they care about is if they have servile followers with low self confidence.

Even though I’m long Out, I could never get over this.. As for what somebody said about ‘passive aggressive punishment’ towards somebody who goes against what they say: I experienced shunning because I refused to quit my full-time job. I knew I had to support myself. I’m now Retired.. The religion wouldn’t be supporting me or anyone else.

I see all the JWs who listened to their bad advice who didn’t get decent jobs/careers and are struggling today - like people who lost in a bad investment or pyramid scheme.

This hypocritical religion is beneath contempt and there is No forgiveness.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

Yeah, what a load of nonsense! What nobody ever hears about is when people like her end up broke in a year or so and have to come off the pioneer list.

This whole dialogue against college/careers was heard I’m sure by many younger Witnesses over the years.. If any of these thousands of Witnesses unwisely kept on the pioneer list.. in an unpaid ministry daydreaming their whole lives, they had a rude awakening when it came time to Retire.. What recourse do they have??

This is why I’m Glad I never quit my full-time job like older affluent Witness busybodies wanted me to!!! I worked until Retirement. These JWs (who are now in their graves) aren’t even around to help anybody they misled!!!

I’m just Glad I never listened to any of it.

What would you change?

i’m agnostic so maybe the universe started by chance or by design.. if it was by design (hypothetically) and the bible is the designers word, and jws seem to be the closest to it, then what would be the largest things you would change?.

here are a few ideas.

-do away with the governing body thinking they are gods only channel.

You pretty much nailed the toxic culture and mindset of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I doubt this will change.

The ‘love bombing’ is phony and designed to keep people there. The ‘enmeshment’ part I absolutely hated with everybody wanting to know your business. If you were a young single woman like I was, there was no regard for your boundaries and these idiots imagined they could come up to you and ask or say anything!.. Maybe a married woman got somewhat more respect.

These intrusive older hypocrites with unwanted advice were certainly not looking out for my best interest and I made sure I kept this in mind.. I am especially referring to older people (who have gone to their graves after living a cushy life).. They had ALREADY made their living…yet they preached poverty to younger people like myself.

Thankfully for ME, I kept my job and their garbage went in one ear and out the other.

Yes. Meanwhile these services are sorely needed. The fact that the JW religion has absolutely No social programs like the ones you mentioned is something that should be held against them, in my opinion.

They have created poverty among their followers or at least those gullible enough to totally buy into their teachings. Thankfully I never listened. Now, all the baby boomers are reaching retirement age with many among them having No preparation.. They were duped into spending decades in volunteer work.👎 They wasted time in a full time unpaid ministry instead of holding down decent secular jobs!

I am laughing about your remark about ‘homeschooled morons’. You know, before I became a JW I had never heard of home schooling.

There are probably quite a few in the Witness religion.. Sadly, in their case, it’s like having No education at all unless it’s done right - which I doubt it was.. They can barely read and write and have no knowledge about anything.👎 It’s like being brought up in a broom closet.. It would not surprise me if most would score much lower than a HS dropout.

I’m sure they and others considered the magazines to be the equivalent of a ‘college education’. 🤣

Too bad if any of these Witnesses were led to believe they were more ‘spiritual’🙄 than other people in the congregation who attended regular schools and got decent jobs.

he would turn in his grave if he knew the end didn’t come by 2023.. back in the 1970s he really believed in the 75 thing.

he was so disappointed and almost blamed everyone else why the end didn’t come.

The guy on Beroean Pickets has a current video on how Jehovah’s Witnesses have fallen into idolatry and you can guess what the topic is about.. I, for one, never held any GB member on a pedestal and I consider any Witnesses who do to be absolute morons and fools.

Yes, they are their own worst enemy. If they changed their stance and encouraged college/careers they would have more affluent members sitting there.

It’s obvious they are very threatened by education. Maybe it’s because education can shake the flimsy belief system OR that education can make a person more confident and they can’t have that. Maybe it’s plain old jealousy because the ‘higher up’s’ don’t have higher education.

They want servile members with low self-confidence sitting there.. I’m not exaggerating and I think this is literal.

So, rather than have educated, confident and more affluent people there, they would rather have poorer more ignorant members. Maybe they feel they have more control this way and none of the uneducated higher-ups need feel intimidated or embarrassed by encounters with educated individuals in the circuits. Just my opinion.

Very good points you raised and how these awful views certainly cannot help any children or young people in the religion.

I wanted to address your Second point: I once had an aggravating thing said to me years ago by a rather stupid sister.. She’s a Witness who tolerates too much, low self esteem and who believes you should accept bad things happening to you. This belief is probably at the heart why there is an acceptance of being a ‘victim’ of anything in this idiot religion and not speaking up about it.

This is yet another reason I’m Glad to be done with this dysfunctional religion.

If I worked somewhere and knew of somebody who breached confidentiality, I would report them ASAP.

I would pay a confidential visit to the management or the HR department telling them. Who knows? Maybe it would save them from a costly lawsuit.. I learned to despise Witnesses on jobs.

If they’re only in business for themselves cleaning toilets they can’t hurt anybody.

Because of their ignorance and not being in reality about the world, they have no regard for rules/regulations or don’t have any idea about unintended consequences. The results can be disastrous.

i always found it amazing that so many jws got blind drunk at parties and got away with it!

i suppose alcohol was the only fun thing we were allowed to partake in....

You say that to this day you never found out who spread this lie about you being drunk. It’s doubtful you ever will.

It’s bad enough when somebody got ratted out in the religion about something they actually did. But, when it’s a false accusation, it makes you even more angry. As for the hypocrites’ excuse that they ‘won’t reveal their sources’, this is nonsense as well. Maybe only one person (with an issue) said this and in order to cover himself, he will say ‘he heard somebody else say…’

There is no defense against the rampant character assassination and gossip in the Jehovah’s Witness religion. Sometimes it’s based on jealousy and somebody wants somebody to look bad.. Many have been victimized one time or another over something.. It varies. In your case it was over an accusation about ‘drinking’.
