Sorry everybody.
I just cannot believe that anybody would ever think that these men are special or ‘holy’ in any way.
Divinely appointed? Please.
did i misinterpret something or read something wrong?.
did the gb say recently that they are to be dead or pulled out of earthly existence before the great tribulation?.
if so, can someone point me to jw literature or a thread on this topic?.

today is the first time i was made aware of this actual elder body video.
it's training for how a co should handle elder's whose children decide to pursue further education.
JHINE:
No offense, but your view of American (US) politics and American society in general is very sketchy at best.
But, I guess it is to be expected when people have never actually lived someplace (and maybe never even visited).. but just believe rumors and cliches about it.

JOURNEYMAN:
I once had an elder admit to me that “college educated brothers are harder to counsel”.
Also, you are right that the scriptures would appear to support education (‘being able to preach to all sorts of men’). You are also right that this stupid stand would cause young people to leave. Additionally, a highly educated person would have a better job and probably more money to contribute.
So, what’s going on here? It would appear that they really value people who are ignorant and unquestioning.. To be more to the point: unthinking. This makes me wonder what is in store for the average unsuspecting JW.😮 After watching some videos of “Life After Religion”, I’m beginning to understand.
VIDIOT:
Also, this man mentions them asking for money in a way he has never heard of.. In one of his videos I think he mentions it’s almost like Jerry Lewis (remember those telethons)?
He thinks it will become more so. He said that they are asking for things like ‘does anybody have an extra motor home..etc.’. This guy is afraid that JWs minds are being programmed to give in to any requests. He also mentions in one video about how the FEAR is ramped up for JWs with ‘go bags’ and their videos about persecution and the great trib and them fleeing into the woods or wherever and leaving their possessions behind, etc. [To me it sounded like it would be worse than what I read happened before 1975 with gullible JWs. I was not in the religion yet so I did not witness this.]
Again, this is what he believes is happening.. It might sound extreme but I would not be surprised if some of the more gullible JWs might do this.
VIDIOT:
I see what you mean, but what I get from this guy is that they want to keep whatever members they have online!
I watched a couple of other videos and this man thinks the Witness religion doesn’t care if older ones leave because they are considered ‘dead wood’.. This will be interesting to watch by those of us who are long Out of the religion.
If this happens, it will be devastating to whatever JWs are left.. They will be high & dry with just their laptops & internet connection.. Meanwhile, the religion will continue online. Imagine that? After all these people’s sacrifices! … Time will tell.

I am sure that mature couple was disillusioned after being kicked to the curb. I hope they find their way.
This being kicked out of the bethels in some people’s eyes is viewed as a sign of ‘going out of business’. Them being replaced by younger people won’t matter in the long run.
Just watch the YouTube videos of ‘Life After Religion’… Meanwhile, I wish JWs would wake up and stop hurting themselves and their families.. They should stop foolish things like denying their children college education, working for free and not getting decent jobs.
According to the guy in the videos the average JWs are about to be ‘royally screwed’! I find his views interesting.

Yes. And not a ‘paper’ or degree you can hang on your wall that has ANY value in the real world.. And, yes, it’s true that it affects generations. Such is the result of cutting yourself off from society.
Some years ago a poster made a post I totally agreed with. He said he felt an ‘elder’ had all the importance of the president of your local book club.
Sorry if anybody on the forum would be offended at this.. But, this is how somebody like me not raised a Witness viewed it and their other titles... Couldn’t see what all the fanfare was about. Thank God I was never sold on their title of ‘pioneer’!
Good that this thread was bumped up:
If anybody watches the YouTube videos of ‘Life After Religion’, you will see that he believes the Jehovah’s Witnesses really want to sell off their halls.
He believes them keeping the JWs home (because of Covid) for a little longer was to help break them of the habit of going to the hall. He even thinks the recent changes in the religion were to get people to leave especially older ones.. He thinks the religion considers them ‘dead wood’.
‘If’ this ‘eventuality’ would happen - what a rude awakening to whatever JWs would be left.. He believes the religion wants to be totally online with the end result being the average JW there will only be left with their iPad and an internet connection to the religion. This might sound shocking to many but I would not be surprised if it comes to pass!!
i've had a few medical procedures.
once, i had a massive loss of blood and needed 6 units of blood to replace the loss.
however, i'm curious as to what ex's state to be their religion when filling out the required paperwork when being admitted into a hospital.
Even though I was raised Catholic, I believe I claimed Agnostic the last time I was in a hospital.
I wouldn’t want the claim to any religion to complicate my life or cause me to have unwanted conversations with anybody. Even if it were the end, I don’t really want anybody praying over me.

BALAAMSASS2:
You say she ‘banked on her looks’ to supposedly snag a better guy. Even though this is probably your opinion (I guess).. because I’d be shocked she would have actually said it - it is possible she might have believed this.
But, with the shocking story you related about what she did to you: once this was heard on the Jehovah’s Witness gossip circuit and made the rounds far and wide, her chances were nil. I think it was as you said, that suitors were scared away.
How does this relate to the OP? These things are all the end results of a cult-like religion with a tattletale culture that knocks education, careers and planning for the future.
