50 year anniversary

remember 1975?

maybe when you were a kid - like i was?

i will celebrate 01.10.2025 the 50th anniversary of the "end of 6000 years of human history and the immediate end of the world".

In 1975, I had not yet made the mistake of setting foot into the Witness religion…Too bad the internet wasn’t around then.

Well, several years later I made that mistake but thank God I didn’t listen to everything they said… I kept working… But, when that 1995 Generation teaching came out I knew I had to get out and planned a ‘Fade’.. It was well worth it and I made up for a lot over the years after that. I reconnected with estranged relatives before it was too late and that was priceless.

I cannot even imagine anybody who stayed in the religion after the ‘75 failure!!

so this latest annual meeting introduced a new idea about babylon the great, and here is the part from geoffrey jackson's talk we real need to dig in and consider it's ramifications..... so you’ve got to hand it to them; they know how to keep things interesting with their ever-evolving interpretations and, of course, those classic "adjustments" in understanding.

Yes, I realize the real hard core Witnesses are the ones before the Boomers.

Back in the day when I was in, those you describe did influence things in congregations and could have been behind me being given a hard time because I worked.. But, funny thing, all the older people there were collecting their pensions because they had been in the workforce when young. What hypocrisy.

Again, I’m Glad today I never listened. Anybody who thought they would ‘shame’ me back then it didn’t work. It was worth every penny to be shunned.

I can see how you thought some were deranged. They were cantankerous and thought they could say anything to anybody. What I could not tolerate was the ‘holy mystique’ that some had about themselves. I never believed anybody’s divine claims and it made me ill when people fawned over them.

Anyway, some Boomers were only too glad to try to imitate them… And, fast forward - now we see what it has come to today almost 2025.👎

I am a longtime ‘Fader’ and I don’t feel one ounce of pity for the ‘hard core Boomers’ that you describe. These are the people who knocked me years ago because I worked full-time and didn’t pioneer.. I’m Glad I never listened.. They can hang on desperately all they want but the old JW religion is gone.. I still think this religion is eventually going online.

THE PROBLEM WITH THESE 2 NEW GB MEMBERS APPOINTMENTS

these new appointments are troubling, to say the least, especially considering the factors surrounding their selection.

these appointments raise key concerns about leadership, experience, and what is happening behind the scenes at the organization's headquarters.

Yes, I remember all the Boomers when we were young!

You would not believe the die-hard arrogance and smugness that I witnessed back when the JW religion was in its heyday! (Late seventies all through the eighties and so on).. These people thought they were going to march into the new world hand in hand. They were especially critical of me with my full time job. You didn’t pioneer? Nobody would bother with you.. Well, I had no choice but to keep on working and I let these attitudes roll off my back.

When I began my ‘Fade’ it was before tablets and JW dot org and the screen up front showing words to the awful songs. I was surrounded by responsible people. No panhandlers yet.

Well, all the die-hards are now senior citizens. Some have passed away. Some did well $$ others did not. For those who can’t pay their bills because they forever pioneered, they should go ask their ‘spiritual’ friends for help! I wonder what the remainder of the JWs think about the religion.

I can’t imagine anything more depressing than sitting in a Kingdom Hall growing old. To me, it’s all a big slap in the face and I’m glad I got out years ago while I had a little youth left!

After what I experienced I felt I had to warn the inexperienced there. I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t.

Who knows if these little fools went and ratted on me for brownie points! 🤣 This could also explain why I was so disliked by some there.. Who cares.. I’m Glad I did what I did and also never listened to the religion.

Anybody who did listen all those years ago and pioneered for decades and didn’t pay enough $ into SS is in a bad predicament today! What we are seeing today are more potential victims (volunteering for free, etc.). History might sadly repeat itself if these young people don’t wake up out of the fantasy at an early enough age to make up for lost time!

Yes, targeting the young and vulnerable who should really be planning for their own lives and security.

What’s sad is these young people (likely born-ins) have no knowledge of the real world and how it works. If their parents are also born-in that’s even worse (generational ignorance).

I personally witnessed older JWs with secure and cushy lives pushing poverty on younger people years ago. (They tried with me.) But the poverty being pushed was certainly not for them! ..Hell no. These hypocrites went to their graves living a cushy life.

It is so dishonest for any older person to do this and I made sure I warned every young person in the hall that I had a conversation with that they have to look out for themselves! .. I hope some took my advice.

ON THE WAY OUT:

Yes, it’s obvious to the Witness religion that when the Baby Boomers pass away, that’s it.

I don’t believe these people will be replaced and nobody would have the loyalty or die-hard attitude they do. That’s a thing of the past.

I believe (as some do) that the JW religion is going totally (or almost) totally online once they sell off all the Kingdom Halls.. Maybe keep an assembly hall here and there?? Only problem is the few rank & file JWs left behind who will have no physical hall to regularly go to.

This would be quite an adjustment for these Witnesses whose whole life revolved around the religion! ..The rest of us here on the Forum are glad we got out ages ago.

What made you look behind the jw curtain?

i was listening to a lunchtime call in radio show about jws and the personal experiences of being disfellowshiped, and a former elder called in saying he was disfellowshiped for asking about jws and their involvement in the un in the 1990s ,and he just said look it up.. thinking that it was a made up lie ,so i looked it up and it was true even a letter confirming it from the un itself and that led me here and to jwfacts and further research into the history and teachings of jw and walked out the door about 5 years ago.

Yes, I remember that exactly. Instead of having a special title alerting people to the upcoming change - they slipped it into the article like the sneaks they are.

Were they hoping nobody would notice? Who knows? But, I was sitting there at the meeting and felt like I got punched in the gut. They were just stringing everybody along.. It dawned on me right then that I had to make plans to get out of the religion.

When I got my life in order, I began a ‘Fade’.

but what they don't say he left started and ran a real estate company and a global real estate consulting firm and apparently after making a fortune come back to bethel a few years ago.

how in the hell could a non lifer now be anointed and appointed to be a gb member.

sure can't be for his spiritual qualifications!.

Umm, that’s not entirely accurate and not telling the whole story…..

Yes that’s true that many ex-JWs criticized the GB for being out of touch with Real world experience:

BUT, that was because they were presuming to tell the rank & file Witnesses how to live. Telling people not to get higher education and what job or career they (shouldn’t have) and not plan for their Retirement. In other words, they should starve to death.. A GB who knew what life was like outside might have empathy and not say such stupid things.

The situation you have here now is different. They appointed someone with ‘real life experience’ in an area the RELIGION is interested in. Not to benefit anybody else!

It was after they came out with the 1995 changed teaching on Generation that I knew something was wrong with the Witness religion and I had to get out.

Before that time there were a whole lot of things that got me wondering what kind of mistake I made getting involved with this religion! ..There was the lack of love unless you were part of an extended family or clique; the intrusiveness; the gossip that was fierce, etc. ..In my case I was ‘disapproved’ of because I worked full time and had to look out for myself - because nobody else was.. I did NOT follow in the footsteps of other single women there whose time was taken up with the ministry and doing favors for all the ‘Users’!👎

Anyway, I started searching on the internet while at the same time reconnecting with estranged relatives, etc. I was positively shocked at the mountain of unflattering information about the religion and many personal testimonials. It was certainly not my imagination about many things. At this point I was on the fringes of the congregation.. Even though there were a handful of people in the JWs that I liked I planned my ‘Fade’.. I could not be part of this charade anymore.
