this information is supposed to be in the upcoming march wt.

(i don’t go on jw dot org).

it would sound like they are hinting at a change in thinking.. in my opinion, any such change would be yet another slap in the face to faithful pimis along with those other recent changes.. there are so many heartfelt responses on that thread and a lot of justified anger.. don’t know what to say except that i’m so glad i never listened to the religion all those years ago.

It is not just about fearing more ‘young ones’ waking up, I think it’s about too many still living old Witnesses who are presently negatively affected by the religion’s stand against careers.. So the religion has to be careful lest they rile up too many of these faithful older JWs.. In my opinion, the religion is playing a waiting game. When enough of the baby boomers are gone they will then do a total about-face and be very vocal about how people should ‘save money and prepare for the future’. They will act like they ‘always said this’.

Meanwhile, those of us who are grateful we planned and never listened all those years ago will know otherwise!

JW's home schooling over-representing

speaking to an old elder friend recently about his decision to home school his high school aged kids.. he claims that here in australia, about 30% of the students that log into online classrooms are jw's.

the others are disabled kids - who cant physically attend class and the rest are long distance students.. another generation of under-educated jw kids on the way..

I agree with you that many JWs homeschool their children to avoid reality and isolate their children from society in general.

While it is possible for homeschooling to be a success - it is a rarity in the Witnesses. Successful homeschooling usually involves very dedicated parents who are usually educated themselves. Too many Witnesses end up grossly ignorant and barely literate after homeschooling.. It is like they were brought up in a broom closet.

At least somebody who went to public school got exposure to real education with qualified teachers. They also picked up useful things about the world they live in and interacting with the human race.

In my opinion, too many religious leaders end up like wolves in sheep’s clothing. Even if it starts out with good intentions it always ends up this way it seems.

I have had enough experience with religion to last two lifetimes. Getting involved with the Witness religion was an unpleasant life lesson learned for me after being raised Roman Catholic..

I consider myself to be agnostic at this point and am done with it all!

due to slow growth and the constant scrutiny from governments like norway in relation to their harsh disfellowshipping practices,last year in a move that no one expected the watchtower for the first time extended an olive branch to all those who left the organization or were disfellowshipped in the past.considering this practice was introduced over 60 years ago and with a rough estimate that around 100,000 leave jehovah’s witnesses every year the total number is in the several millions.so we should have expected millions to have accepted this invitation and rejoined the organization, the result though was an abysmal few thousands according to a recent jw update.. so now, for the first time, the latest watchtower study magazine for april 2025 gives us an inside view on how this reintegration is coming along, and it doesn't look good!.

Thanks again for telling the truth of what really goes on in the Jehovah’s Witness congregations. They are steeped in a culture of poverty. Too many have wrong attitudes about work and personal responsibility. There was terrible treatment of people like me who worked at a REAL job. Thankfully, I ignored them.

The world would be shocked if they knew the level of deadbeat-ism and predatory behavior there.. As somebody raised Roman Catholic, I was always appalled by it.

Can you imagine what would happen if I were stupid enough to show my face in the JW religion now after being happily Out many years?? People who hardly worked and delusional idiots would make their way over to me to either ask for handouts or make nosy inquiries about my business!😳

I would have to be out of my mind to tolerate this behavior at this point in my life.

Thank you for saying that.

Some people on the forum (either current or ex-Witnesses) might resent me for using the term ‘deadbeat’ and me saying I don’t want to give JWs who didn’t work $ or charity.. This bothers them so they will downvote my post. But, they aren’t courageous enough to put into words why.. They either don’t understand or care that I got criticized/shunned by Witnesses because I worked OR they imagine they are ‘owed’ something.. Well, not by me they’re not.

Who did they work or volunteer for?? The religion, that’s who. Go ask them.

My philosophy is that you don’t get to criticize somebody for working a REAL job instead of being in the ministry - and then when things don’t work out for you imagine you are going to ask that same person for money.. It doesn’t work that way, IMO.

Regarding this DF’d sister who returned so she can see her family but who stopped attending because she doesn’t want to deal with the intrusiveness: is anybody surprised?

This no boundaries thing has got to be the most repulsive thing about the Witness religion and it’s too bad they don’t adjust their policies about this.. I’m sure well over half of people who stay away is because of this - in addition to their crap man-made teachings.

I walked away almost 24 years ago and this was my primary reason after the 1995 Generation thing.. I was done forever with their garbage.. Long ago I might have tolerated this nonsense but certainly not now.

Besides, they wouldn’t want somebody like me now because I’m older and wiser and my every other phrase would be ‘that’s none of your business’ in addition to ‘No’ when asked by deadbeats for $.. This would pose a problem for the Users and busybodies there.😉

It’s too bad that ill treatment and adversity made you do this. So, if you were treated better back then, you might be in a serious predicament today! I’m sure you realize now (as I do) that it was worth every penny in the end to be treated badly by ignorant people.

I think the religion is sunk if all they have are very young elders! These young guys won’t have what it takes to hound people like the older men of the recent past who are mostly deceased by now. (Not that this would be well tolerated now.)

These young guys are also less likely to be nasty and over-righteous and say absurd or boundary-crossing things like I experienced years ago with deluded older men there - but I resisted.. Nah, they didn’t get anywhere with me.. I am Out many years and good riddance to it all.

But, the point being: these young elders won’t be able to guilt trip or manipulate anybody.. And the religion is ALL about manipulation, IMO.

Thanks for telling it like it is.

In addition to all that, they’d be returning to an environment with many disappointed and sometimes desperate people! At least back when I left in around 2001 I didn’t sense this. It was a better environment in the hall with the ‘hope’ the new system was coming soon to save everybody.

Now all these years later with all the discarded teachings and everybody getting older? Forget it.

I am sure you are right that this is being said to ‘cover their tracks’ when disgruntled people point a finger in the future. I would hate to think this damaging policy would affect today’s younger generation of JWs when ‘old and grey’.. What a depressing thought.

I don’t know if anybody ever realized how far reaching and damaging this policy of no career/no decent job has been for Witnesses.

When I was in the religion there were people who weren’t even pioneers who lived on the edge who worked low paid or part time jobs because it was close to home and they ‘didn’t want to miss meetings’.. These people are now ‘needy’ in addition to the pioneers ‘who didn’t count the cost’ and people who got sent home from bethel.. This is far too many poor and needy people in one place (and a reason why I’m glad I’m not there).

This is all several generations of consequences of purposely not getting decent employment because people were led to believe the End was soon!

I wonder if they would want any fader women coming back who won’t do favors for all the Users there or give money/charity to hordes of JWs who never worked?? ..That would pose a problem since this is ultimately what it would be all about.. That fader should spare themselves the predictable aggravation.☺️ They should stay happily Out.

This is what I will say to any Witnesses who ever show up at my door.
