  The reason this article makes me angry is that it uses diversionary tactics to take the questioner away from the points addressed in the first place.
  
  They feel that because they have supposedly "enlightened" everybody about the trinity, moral standards and have given "genuine love" that is supposed to shut everybody up about what is wrong with them and make you not see these major flaws.

  Job Interview-Help with specific question

  so, i have a job interview on monday for a city government job.

  i have worked for a city before and i would really like to work for one again in order to complete my retirement requirement for benefits.

  and i really want this job.. i have info about the job and i am studying specific information; however i don't interview all that well as i get extremely nervous.. one of the questions i always have a hard time with is:.

  The answer you gave is the politically correct one and probably the one I would use. That is what an employer wants to hear.
  
  I feel sorry for what people have to go through nowadays when applying for a job. They get asked to fill out insulting questionnaires like that which are really designed to weed out morons and sociopaths. I call them "idiot tests".
  
  I long for the good old days when you just filled out the application, got interviewed and accepted, started work and then got your paycheck on Friday.

  Are JW's Self-righteous?

  a good friend who is a police officer told me last night that he believes a lot of the jw's he has met through the years in his line of work are extremely self-righteous.

  i didn't have much of a reply but it did get me thinking about what he said.

  so, what do you guys think?

  Of course they are self-righteous. Why do you think it is impossible for them to admit they were wrong about anything?
  
  Because they are so self-righteous (and service has a lot to do with this, by the way) no criticism of them is thought to be valid. Because they are out in the field that covers a multitude of sins and faults in the people there. Just being who they are and doing their "thing" makes up for any bad.

  WTS exploiting the system!

  my wife suffers from severe anxiety disorders, panic attacks an such.

  as i have been reading posts here i definetly see a correlation between dubdom and anxiety disorders.

  because of the life that the wts encourages jws to lead, it leaves other peoples tax money and high insurance costs etc.

  Just reading your post makes me angry because it is all so true about people quitting good jobs with benefits, etc. Not one single penny should anybody contribute! Not one red cent! Since they are so anti-work and anti-education let them eat cake (you know what I mean).
  
  
  As far as dubs getting benefit checks, well if they paid into a system they are deserving as long as they aren't taking advantage, e.g. pretending to have a disability of some sort.

  Jesus came to inspect the churches in 1918 - Where does the Bible say THAT?

  the watchtower says that jesus came to inspect all the churches in 1918/19 and then chose the bible students to be his chosen ones.. what i want to know is, where does the bible say that jesus was going to do any inspection at all?

  let alone a special inspection in the year 1918!.

  this "inspection", upon which the watchtower obtains all of its authority, sounds like something added to the bible!

  You are right when you say that what they teach is based on speculation. I was of that opinion way back when but I kept my feelings to myself. The way I see it is: they make an assumption and on that assumption they make other assumptions, and so on and so on.

  Kind of like a house of cards.

  your husband ,wife ,boyfriend or girlfriend, things that you know really annoy them so you keep doing it to see their reaction?.

  heres mine ,and you can never tell ,shhhhh.

  i will go ouside and cut a plant ,maybe trim it ,at first i really did forget to clean up my plant mess but oh oh , i got a reaction so now i leave them for him to see and watch him blow,,,,,,,,,,lol .

  No, because it is too much effort and I would tend to avoid somebody or something I don't like. Besides, it would look as if I had the problem if I did this! But, I have observed other people do things on purpose that I consider to be annoying or inconsiderate.
  
  That is why I always have a walkman with me in public so I can tune out certain people when necessary.

  Birthdays-How Ridiculous the wts is

  the celebration of birthdays is banned by the wts.

  but from what i have seen from dubs, they actually take it one step further.

  they wont even acknowledge someones birthday!

  They differ just for the sake of being different.
  
  This applies not just in the areas of birthdays but regarding the cross and the flag. In these other two areas the scriptures supporting these beliefs are obscured or played down.

  Emotional Tug of War

  the one thing i hate most about the whole idealogy of the jw's is the ransom for your love they like to play on you.

  many times you will find the greatest people you will ever meet being a jw but they will only love you and you can only love them as long as you're current condition or title is a jw.

  i can garrentee you that this is one big reason why a lot of people do not leave.

  It's called conditional love. It is not real love. A person who really loves you will do so no matter what you believe. Their love is based upon your performance and adherence to certain things. Once you are out of step with their dance routine the "love" goes out the window.
  
  There is no getting away from the fact that if you leave you will lose whatever friends you think you have there. You must accept this. I would suggest you make friends on the outside now and/or rekindle other friendships you have let die.

  Did you ever have to change phone number because of the JW's?

  often, i changed phone number in the past, so that they wouldn't bother me.

  i remember being active and going to the meetings, but i still wanted none of them to have my phone number, knowing i would one day be inactive.. how about you, ever change phone number because of them?.

  No, not because of them but because of two sicko friends who were bad for me. A married couple with a husband who constantly made sexual overtures to me and every female friend of theirs. She refused to believe any of it. It got so bad that they lost a lot of friends because of it. I was accused of being a "man hater" because I refused him and because I wasn't promiscuous. If that makes me a man hater then so be it.

  The reason I am inclined not to believe them is that I know of somebody who drove to the site with his son to deliver EMT related equipment and water. When he was done distributing his cargo he was ORDERED to leave immediately! He was glad to do so as it was hard to breathe and he was coughing up that horrible dust all day.
  
  So, if they told him to scram (and he had legitimate business being there), why am I to believe that a bunch of clueless charlies was allowed to traipse around (in an unhealthy and possibly dangerous situation) giving out tracts and tapping people on the shoulder to talk? I mean, can't you just imagine the ridiculousness of the scene if this were so? Those workers were traumatized and stressed-out, to say the least. I am sure somebody would have seriously lost their temper at them!
