WING COMMANDER:
Maybe others feel differently, but I’m not attracted in the slightest! It wouldn’t matter what things the Witnesses got rid of.
The fact of the matter is that it’s too late to try to make a good impression. Some people’s lives were impacted for the worse and ruined in some cases.. I’m lucky I never listened and escaped with just a few ‘bruises’.
I am sure die-hard JWs are freaking out wondering what is happening.
I believe some of this is probably a reaction to what happened in Norway and maybe other changes will happen.. While it might keep some in, other JWs will be headed for the door anyway. Good riddance to it.
we still have quite a few elderly here that came in as young families in the late 1960's-early 70's because soon, yes very soon they would enter the new system and never grow old.
it's now one year away from 50 years since 1975. just in the last couple years i've seen them come down with alzheimer's, cancer, brain tumors, becoming invalid etc.
the children of them that are now around 60 are just so distraught at seeing their parents deteriorate.
NOW WHAT?
Exercise patience?! Yeah, they have their nerve.. I guess the religion doesn’t want to hear complaining or murmuring since they can’t deliver the ‘paradise’ they promised everybody - especially those who never planned for their senior years.
I ‘Faded’ years ago so I’m not affected by what goes on there.. And I’m thankful that whatever youth I had left wasn’t spent in some Kingdom Hall.. It must be terrible to be sitting there waiting on promises and growing old. To be honest, I don’t think I ever truly believed their talk about how people wouldn’t get old.
These now elderly JWs from the ‘75 era are probably the ones propping up the religion. Them and the rest of the younger baby boomers will be hanging on til the end.
personally i think they gonna realise god's not backing org.
that idea gonna get even more established in their minds.
i think the real selling of kingdom hall gonna start then.
NOT FORMER:
How things have changed over the decades!
The nature of the cases now is that the Witnesses are not the victims anymore! No, now it appears they are in the role of ‘bad guy’ and trampling somebody else’s human rights.
If this religion was running the whole show there would be a world-wide dictatorship.
for those of you who are pimo, how do you feel it may be effecting your mental and physical health?
is it easy to pretend to be what you are not?
how do you feel about falsely supporting the pimi which builds them up and therefore an org you don't believe in?
WOKENFROMJWCULT:
I assume you are referring to the 1995 changed Generation teaching! One might have thought it would bring things down like a House of Cards, but that was not to be!
This certainly woke me up and I felt like I had been punched in the gut when I heard it. I knew then and there I had to get out and that we were being strung along like fools.. I was super right to have held onto my job.. I made plans to ‘Fade’.
While some Witnesses remained ‘asleep’, other thinking JWs left the religion in the years after that.. Some JWs who stayed (maybe PIMO) realized they needed to get better jobs because they certainly were going to grow old ‘in this system of things’.
This was twenty nine years ago and certainly somebody would have been able to do something to prepare financially in that amount of time.. I’m glad for their sake if some JWs did!
hi, i was df'd in jan 09. have not been in touch much with the jws apart from a few memorials i went to.. what with all the online presence they have nowadays, it just feels like a totally different religion.
i have seen them with their tablets and phones at the hall, hardly any physical bibles or books at all, makes me think how ai (or the borg) could so easily change words and phrasing in the bible to suit them without making a big deal of it, like 'a new light' talk or wt article.
doctrinally has much changed since 2009?.
KERRY KING:
While the religion isn’t worthy of a ‘second thought’, there were major changes in beliefs in the Annual Meeting of 2023.. Some older die-hards are very bothered by this.
For one thing, the religion did away with the hundred year old requirement for regular publishers to count time and submit a slip.. This bothered me because I was judged over this.. Thank God I never listened. They also said something along the lines of how people can repent at the last minute. There were other things I can’t remember at the moment but if you do some digging on here you can find some threads that explain everything more thoroughly.
Oh, last but not least, beards are finally allowed!🙄
going door to door with their "memorial" invitation.
"so you can pass the emblems but nobody partakes?
them: "we can explain who is to partake".. me: "all jesus' followers".
WING COMMANDER:
Your post is one hundred percent accurate as to what the JW religion is!!! If I could smash the like button more times I would.
It really is bullshit their so-called urgency and I thought so myself that if they were really doing a warning work they would use the media.. Think about it: if people in a community needed to be warned about some impending danger - they wouldn’t send old ladies out door-to-door putting fliers in people’s doors would they? Everything else you said I have said so myself.
They take and offer nothing! NO material aid whatsoever in the way of soup kitchens, etc. like the churches of ‘Babylon the Great’ offer to the needy...One might think that with all the poor and needy the JWs created who followed their bad advice not to get careers - that they would set up some facility for assistance. But No. Any so-called help is like a mirage in the desert.. They have the balls to think the fewer responsible members left in congregations are going to give these people money and in effect support them til they die. The idea is ludicrous and unsustainable.
Some ‘brothers’ were in my area in the summer and came to my door. I was polite to them but told them plainly that I would never go back there and would not give money to people who never worked (I got criticized for working)…nor would I tolerate the panhandling that has come to be there.
one theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.
he actually said the words we will never ever change it.. they are slowly deleting all of tony’s videos and now losing court cases and losing government hand outs in places like norway.. it’s looking very likely they will release new light on shunning policy after losing this latest one in norway.. .
what are the odds they coincidentally get new light from jehovah and lighten up their shunning policy ?.
FOOLEDNOMORE:
I feel as you do - that the Damage is done!
While many here have family in who are shunning them, I don’t.. I just had a few ‘friends’ there and as the expression goes: “With friends like that, who needs enemies.”
I think we should all be suspicious of any attempts to bring us back - because I think it’s all about the empty $eats there they desperately want to fill.. They have a big problem of too many Baby Boomers who followed their advice and hit retirement age with no preparation or savings.👎 They also have those passing away and that leaves fewer people to hit up for money!

MAGNUM:
I agree with you that what’s going on in the JW religion is real stuff and not some fiction on TV.
Not that there’s anything wrong with watching fiction on TV, but people have a right to see what’s going on in an organization that has affected many people’s lives.
When I saw the change at the recent annual meeting where they took away the century old requirement to report hours, I took notice! I was judged over this! Thank God I never listened…I know it means zero now that I was persona non grata and not invited to special dinners back then because I worked.. But, I am mindful that others who did listen are far more impacted!
I wish them all the best and hope they get a break.
someone else posted something a similar experience, this is one i had regarding my mom.my mom died last year.
she had been in failing health for years, but the last 2 year were pretty rough for her, with lots of visits to the hospital.
the last 4 months, it was the hospital, a skilled nursing facility/rehab unit, and finally, a nursing home.
ROAD TO NOWHERE:
Yes, I do believe FOOLEDNOMORE should be aware of this.
DESIROUS OF CHANGE:
So you were pleasantly surprised that your mom got attention? It can go either way. I’m sure the ‘friends’ who showed interest in her are okay.. But I am a suspicious person about people in general (doesn’t matter what religion, etc.) and would take precautions just in case.
My family are not Witnesses and would not be fooled or trusting like some JWs would be. When my grandmother needed attention and strangers (nurses aides and the like) had to come and look in on her, my family was prepared.. Her whole apartment had been gone through beforehand and not one item of value was left there for anybody to pocket!
Sorry if anybody doesn’t like hearing this but that’s the way it is.
