BALAAMSASS2:
Well, I am glad something good for the world and the non-JW community came out of this.
after over 100 years...watchtower helps the poor of nyc...by leaving!!
jehovah's witnesses hotel becomes affordable housing.
developed by breaking ground, 90 sands brings new housing opportunities to brooklyn.. .
BALAAMSASS2:
Well, I am glad something good for the world and the non-JW community came out of this.
my brother ( an elder ) calls me every time he's assigned a public talk.
he believes listening to zoom meetings is a great start, to eventually attending in-person meetings.
the talk is titled : '' reject worldly fantasies, pursue kingdom realities.
RULES & REGULATIONS:
I DO remember this back when I was a believer. Might have been at the convention.
Those were the days when I was younger and felt bad that I wasn’t accepted like all the pioneers! ..If only I would quit that full-time job I had and join the ranks of house cleaners and full time ministers! No worries about the future or retirement.. I would be ecstatic and on a spiritual ‘high’…. Then I would be invited to all those dinners and secret gatherings..I would have older people in the hall with cushy lives telling me how ‘blessed’ I am.🙄
Well…none of this was to be.. I just could not bring myself to quit that full-time job..and boy am I Thankful today that I did what I did.
i open a new topic, to find out how it's going in your area.
from what i see as a southern european in my constituency the situation is patchy.. the congregation where i am now has 30% old people on zoom but also young couples with almost all their cameras off.
no increase but a slight decrease in the total number of publishers.. circuit assemblies: before covid you couldn't find a free seat if you arrived 10 minutes before the start.
LA FRANCIA:
From what I have heard the halls are emptier than ever.. I am a long time ‘Fader’ who had gone to a funeral talk within the last decade and was shocked at how empty my old hall was!
As far as all those Zoom cameras that are turned off: ..some Witnesses had problems with nervy busybodies commenting on something hanging on the wall in their house! ..Also, catty and unwanted remarks were made about people’s appearance… Who needs this?? ..I certainly never would have tolerated this intrusiveness.
Maybe Zoom is good in conference room settings - but not so much in someone’s home.
My opinion on Zoom used by the JWs: uninvited people looking into somebody else’s home was not a good thing and I was proved right.. Hence most of the cameras are now wisely turned off!
for the first time in ages.. a very elegantly dressed senior lady and a young chap.
but--it wasnt just having a leaflet thrust at me--it was a full blown "old style" presentation.
i stopped her going to far into it--by asking if they are jws--and told them i was an apostate.
STAN LIVE DEATH:
I suppose it is up to each individual, but I didn’t refer to myself as an ‘apostate’ to the JWs who came by last summer.
The word might sound like the ‘boogeyman’ to some paranoid Witnesses who look under their beds at night fearful an apostate might be there.🤣
I simply told them that I was glad I never followed the religion’s bad advice years ago and how I’m Glad to not be around them now.
it appears the perp got the victims disfellowshiped!
the state attorney general has re-opened the botched case.. "the trial for a jehovah’s witness elder accused of molesting three girls in 1999 began in a lancaster county court monday with lawyers giving opening statements to the jury.. norman aviles-garriga, 45, was charged by the pennsylvania attorney general with two counts of aggravated indecent assault and 16 related offenses in connection with assaults alleged by three women who say the abuse happened when they were girls.. aviles-garriga is one of five pennsylvania jehovah's witnesses charged by a statewide grand jury with using their positions within their churches to sexually abuse children.
the attorney general’s office brought charges against the men in october 2022 and february 2023.. .
BALAAMSASS2:
The Witnesses always loved to criticize the Catholic Church.. They jumped on the Church’s CSA scandals and pointed the finger at them. NOW, we see the JWs are just as bad!
I remembered the JWs used to love to call the Church ‘Babylon the Great’ and say ‘her sins have massed clear up to heaven..etc.’ Of course, I am not saying that it and religions in general aren’t guilty of atrocities committed over the centuries because they certainly are. The problem is the Church has been around since the Third Century.. That is certainly enough time to accumulate a lot of evils!
Now, look at the Jehovah Witness religion which has only been around a century and a half.. They are already grossly corrupt!.. What would this religion resemble if it were around a very long time and if (God forbid) it had any kind of power??.. What a scary thought.
another creepy pervert elder convicted of multiple counts of child sexual abuse in pennsylvania.
this guy moved from puerto rico to lancaster, pa in the 1990's, worked his way up thru to being an elder, and then used his position to babysit families with children and abuse them.
he then denied everything, but when some victims went to the police, he fled back to pr, where us marshall's eventually caught up to him and arrested him.
WING COMMANDER:
Thanks for the good post about what’s going on in Pennsylvania with the shameful Witnesses and CSA!
I also agree with you that Reddit unfortunately appears to have adopted the ‘woke’ tone you describe - Sickening! .. I think some ex-JWs have to prove a point that they are so ‘out’ of the religion 🙄… I still skim over it but make a point to totally ignore anything with a heading that suggests stupid content! ..However, there are some good threads there and the forum is generally good for seeing the latest news in JW land.
I also believe a former poster from this forum posts there and not here anymore. He must have his reasons.
Anyway, getting back to the CSA situation in PA - I hope it wakes up more Witnesses so that they get real about what’s really happening.
there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.
even the most brain-dead robotic elders told me he was offensive.
.
THOMAS MORE:
Yeah, it’s really sickening about their attitudes towards people who work (especially women).
That was good of you to say what you did to that ignorant CO.. Witnesses like him who never worked yet make insulting remarks about people who do - deserve to find out what it’s like before they die.. I have no use for them.
I know some might think their remarks stem from ignorance about the real world. This is also true, but I believe there’s another reason at least towards women who work: these men hate independent women and want to ‘abase’ them in some way.. Don’t know how else to put it.
The JW idiots who criticized me years ago could not care less what happened to me.. My fate was in my own hands but at least I had the sense to realize it. Thank God.
there is an item this week all about yang ones leaving school.. the two brothers go to a career advisor seminar.
one brother thinks it’s good to work hard full time while you are young and tries to encourage his friend to as well.. his friend (who is the good jw trust the gb no matter what they say)) he wants a part time job.. the video shows him dreaming about investing his money on his phone and the chart goes up, he drives a nice car and seems to be doing well financially.. then he reads the scripture in proverbs and next you see that investment chart go down in the red and he is so pleased he just got a low paid part time job.. this infuriates me.
how many of us are now struggling because we were told to get menial part time jobs and we were told the end would have been here by now.. i will never tell a young person to listen to the gb advice on this.
VIDIOT:
Yes.. I think most intelligent Witnesses have either left the religion or at least are heading for the door.
I am inclined to think intelligent people who still stay are being held hostage in a sense because they have family there they would lose if they left. Others are PIMOs there for the few friends they have. Too old to start over elsewhere. It sounds dishonest but that’s how it is.
Will the true believers please stand up? I doubt there are very many.

this is the 20 min review audio of the 3 hour inaguaration of the british bethel that took place few days ago....
JOURNEYMAN:
Yes, and in addition to the now false ‘old light’ elderly Witnesses were preaching - year after year - the counting of hours/time slips is No longer needed!…I mean they got rid of everything. Imagine that?
All done away with at the 2023 Annual meeting! ..Many elderly are enduring financial hardships today because they were in the ministry instead of having a job… Does the religion care?
the current u.s. administration and the fed says inflation is hard to tame.
it was over 9% at it's peak.
one of the greatest increases is price of food, something that everyone feels to some extent.
THOMAS MORE:
Inflation and the cost of food has to be affecting the religion.
I have seen for quite a while how eating out has gone up in addition to how groceries have gone up!.. I went to a breakfast place yesterday to get an outgoing order and it cost $20… Whereas I remember going to a diner within the last decade where I would have paid around $14 for the same thing.
