which of ray's books would you recommend someone read first.
coc does a great job of explaining ray's situation and the results.
while covering some major doctrines along the way.

when russell started the wts and began promoting his epistimology the teachings were not what they were today.
most noteable was that christ was present in 1874. thus he believed he and others were chosen by christ to be of the elect remnant who would serve as part of the 144,000 the witnesses recognize today.. the problem occurs when the wts, or judge rutherford, changed 1874 to 1914. .
now christ did not perform any "inspection" until 1919.. he did not chose any fds until 1919.. well, russell was dead in 1919.. therefore prior to 1919 russell was just as any other christian group was.
Keep in mind the WTS says the slave was appointed in 33 ce . Russell sort of filled the bill in his time & then in 1919 those who claimed to be his followers were given the added responsibility of ALL the masters belongings.

is this for real?
if so, it could be world-changing .... http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money-savers/article.html?in_article_id=403819&in_page_id=5.
There was a real cool movie 'The Water Engine'. The inventor was made an offer he couldn't refuse by the oil guys.

i learned the truth about the truth after i was df.
now, i want to get reinstated for family reasons.
i still want to walk the tightrope to the point of going in service, but cannot promote the teachings of wts as i did for 40 yrs.
Thanks for the replies. Especially those who have 'been there--done that.' These folks can see that the issue is not 'to go or not to go'.
I'm still hoping to hear from more of the 'here is what I do' class. If I just wanted to spread the same old thing I used to, there would be no need for this thread.
ps-----this is not about the annointed or the GB

I don't get it. You want to go back for "family reasons" & spread their BS from door to door, even though you say you've learned 'the truth about the truth'? How can you do that?
That is the problem Danny ol' boy.
I don't want to spread their BS, but there must be something truthful to present.

I gather that some here still go in field service. What do you present or talk about at the door?
Thanks for your input.

does anyone know why the term "publisher" was chosen to describe an individual that goes from door-to-door preaching about the bible as a jehovah's witness?
was this term always used?
it certainly makes the focus of the work to be aimed towards literature distribution over anything else.
The interlinear says the literal is 'announce'.

I checked 8 other translations, & they ALL said proclaim, or preach--NOT publish as in books.

Acts 15:36) 36 Now after some days Paul said to Bar´na·bas: "Above all things, let us return and visit the brothers in every one of the cities in which we published the word of Jehovah to see how they are."
there is a precident for the jws becoming more hard-lined: the exclusive brethren.
prior to 1959 the exclusive brethren, whilst conservative, tended to have a more open outreach and even allowed some fraternizing with non-members.
however, following directions from their leaders in 1959, they suddenly slammed closed the doors, introducing beliefs such as: refusing to eat meals with anyone who was not a member and (this makes me sick) automatically breaking up families if one spouse questioned the authority of the leaders.
From their website----
--Recent developmentsUnder the leadership of Bruce Hales, who took over in early 2002, some of the rules of separation have been relaxed.
There is a new policy towards those who have left the Exclusive Brethren. Instead of pushing them away, the church is trying to hold onto them by maintaining or re-establishing contact with them.
Brethren representatives are visiting former members, including those who'd been ejected, some of whom left more than 30 years separation. Families have been allowed to make contact with members who have left.
In some cases local priests have made apologies where the church acted unwisely, too hastily, or without thorough investigation and failed to display "the spirit of the glad tidings" or "the mercy of God".
Contact with family members will probably now only be absolutely banned where a person is actively hostile to the Exclusive Brethren and their way of life.
