WT elder school Pittsburg PA in Jan 1970
by james_woods inhave been gone from the board for a month or so, but i have read with great interest some of the stories about very recent "elder" schools from actual attendees.
i thought some might like to know about my experience in one of these in the very early 70's.
i was pioneering where the need was great (clinton, okla.) and was made assistant cong.

Thanks for the memories. I went to the same school in '73. 1400 Bigelow Blvd.
I got to stay at the bldg the full time as they had 2 brothers stay there. I forget why.
I still have the class picture that I was so proud of for so long as I was standing right beside A. Shroeder. Judah Ben was a kid & they lived there. I was always so impressed with Albert as he came up to our room one night about 9:00 to discuss a question I had that day.
Kept my notes for many years. I was so enthralled as I listened to him explain how the heart is not just a pump, but has much to do with personality. The only other thing I remember from the school is that Willie Stargells wife was a JW in Pittsburgh.
Now, I can't believe I wasted my whole 2 week vacation on that. 2 WEEKS

RE: blood issue and media.
by avishai inplease send letters to stephen bates requesting an article on this issue.
many of you may not see immediately how important this matter is.
beyond the other legal ramifications, i.e, the wts lying about secular info., intentional deception, etc., the blood issue is a huge one.

There are stats that state that as many people die per month from the twisted blood policy as waco. And as many a year are killed as Jonestown. MANY of them children.
In all due respect , I have wondered where such stats can be obtained. A source, please.

What is God's true organization he is using? if this not it, then point me
by amommy ini have been a jw all my life, my sister and i are now in our late twenties and are so unhappy and after desparate attempts to keep up meeting attendance are not spiritually motivated.
we in last few weeks have found some very disturbing things in our search such as the un involvement.
after research on these things and use of the wt library the society speaks for it's self on these issues calling the un the "disgusting thing" that the book of daniel spoke about(wt 85' para.

I highly , HIGHLY, recommend Ray Franz book 'Crisis of Conscience'. You can't imagine how much it will help you see the truth about 'the truth'. He says everything in a kind respectful way backed up with much proof.
It is a false concept that there is only one true religious organization & one must choose between JW & some other organization, which of course we have always been taught. I spent 40 yrs very involved in WTS. Ray explains it much better than I ever could.
Keep looking. You will be rewarded.

I have a question about the blood video
by blindersoff induring the week of jan 30 at the service meeting, the society's video "a video that highlights an important medical trend" will be discussed using the 12 questions listed below.
does any one know if any of the information in this particular video is mis-quoted or mis-represented?
notice that none of these questions involve scriptures - only medical viewpoints.

During the week of Jan 30 at the Service Meeting, the Society's video "A Video That Highlights an Important Medical Trend" will be discussed using the 12 questions listed below. Does any one know if any of the information in this particular video is mis-quoted or mis-represented? Notice that none of these questions involve scriptures - only medical viewpoints. IF the JW belief is based on "scriptural reasons" and not medical, why aren't there more references to scriptures? Note that these questions are taken directly from the January KM.1. Why are some in the medical community reevaluating the use of blood transfusions?
2. Give three examples of complex surgeries that may be performed without blood transfusions.
3. How many physicians and surgeons worldwide have indicated their willingness to treat patients without blood transfusions?
4. What have recent hospital studies revealed about blood use?
5. What are the medical risks associated with blood transfusions?
6. What conclusions have many experts reached regarding the benefits of transfusion alternatives?
7. What causes anemia? How tolerable is it in humans? What can be done to compensate for it?
8. How can red-cell production be stimulated in a patient's body?
9. What techniques are being used to minimize blood loss during surgery?
10. Can transfusion alternatives work for young children or for people involved in life-threatening emergencies?
11. What is one of the primary ethical principles of good medical care?
12. Why is it important for Christians to make nonblood treatment choices in advance? How can we do this?
IF the Society had just stuck to the scriptures - not adding to or taking away - and stated that JW's don't take blood because of the scriptural admonition at Acts 15:28, 29, they would not be facing a problem now. But, it is when they claim to be God's mouthpiece and what the faithful slave says is equal in importance to what the Apostle Paul said, is when they get in trouble. To misrepresent facts in a life and death situation for the purpose of cementing a doctrine is reprehensible.

What has changed this time is that this is the beginning of a legal process that can evenutally lead to legal action against the WTS.
Yea my point exactly!!!!! Who says it will?If I need to put a nail in the wall but I decide not to try because I think the nearby stone is pooorly suited to the task, will the nail ever be driven? What harm is there in picking up the stone and TRYING to drive the nail home? AuldSoul

A question about the amount of times this thread has been viewed... If I MYSELF view this thread 20 times, does it count as 20 or 1?
On this thread somewhere ( I think twice) one of our more astute posters (can't remember who) pointed out that views and viewers is different. So answer is 20.
