many of you have seen my posts in the last week or two, but for those who haven't, here's my story in brief: i've been studying with the jw's for a couple of years, but just had too many doubts to commit.
those doubts were solidified when i discovered this site.
now i've decided not to commit.. however, i still believe in some of the things that the jw's believe.

You ,of course, are entitled to your opinion but I can assure you that MANY of JW are educated.

It's unfair to paint all JW's with the same brush. Your blanket assessment of JW's doesn't seem very different from what the JW's do when they group those outside the organization in one category.

i am just sitting here and shaking my head at the utter stupidity of the wts writers.. while i was at university i took a medical ethics course.
there was a whole chapter on jws and the issue of blood.
we were required to write a paper on one of the chapters.
I wonder whether they actually do go to the library

from the jw point of view as 'christians' they are bound by all the new and some old testament laws.
it would be a farce if they copped out every time things got hard, they might as well have a corporate merger with the catholics.
acts 15:20 clearly states that the new christians that are being recruited should abstain from blood amongst other things.
Blood is an organ. A liquid organ. I thought my (medical field) son had flipped when he told me that. But it is & so the 'rule' of organ transplant applies here. Having an organ transplant is quit different from eating an organ. From the BLOOD brochure, page 3:
"Those
who respect life as a gift from the Creator do not try to sustain life by taking in blood."------------------
So if we respect life we let someone die, because blood is too important to be used to sustain life----huh?

i remember knocking on a door in the field service, and the girl who answered the door, looked at me and said in french, "allez vous faire crosser" .
although i didn't laugh, i found it very funny.
the brother with me also had a smile on his face, but didn't say a word, as we walked back to the car.
The man said "I am going in the house to get my gun & if you are not gone when I get back I will shoot you." I asked "can we talk about it." He started for the house and a neighbor standing there said "he means it."

have been gone from the board for a month or so, but i have read with great interest some of the stories about very recent "elder" schools from actual attendees.
i thought some might like to know about my experience in one of these in the very early 70's.
i was pioneering where the need was great (clinton, okla.) and was made assistant cong.

I got to stay at the bldg the full time as they had 2 brothers stay there. I forget why.
I still have the class picture that I was so proud of for so long as I was standing right beside A. Shroeder. Judah Ben was a kid & they lived there. I was always so impressed with Albert as he came up to our room one night about 9:00 to discuss a question I had that day.
Kept my notes for many years. I was so enthralled as I listened to him explain how the heart is not just a pump, but has much to do with personality. The only other thing I remember from the school is that Willie Stargells wife was a JW in Pittsburgh.
Now, I can't believe I wasted my whole 2 week vacation on that. 2 WEEKS

the blood information has now been dissected and shown for what it is.. .
the custody brochure encourages members to commit perjury, which is unconstitutional and unlawful.
this is another weak point.
I have the video of the city overseer denying, on the stand, the existence of the custody brochure. I had already secured one and the judge had it on his desk at the time. A true display of theocratic war strategy gone wrong.Gotta' get that tape to Randy. (I'm in the USA!)
What was the response of the judge?

if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?

i'll answer that--no!
It may further shed light on their true colors to the general population, in a sence an inoculation with an anti-watchtower vaccine.
Even if this is all it ever does, that makes it worthwhile imho. We have an example right now of a poster who has studied for 2 yrs and decided to back off partly based on what she learned here. She was able to base this on more than our experiences. She could base it on proof of deceit & other failings. This is more proof.
If we can help stop the growth, that's progress.

: How many out there hold onto some of the uniquely JW beliefs even though they've left the JW's?
If you mean that they are the only religion that teaches it. I can't think of one thing. Things I still believe----I can't accept churches supporting war, the ransom, the Bible with it's moral code, Jesus,etc, are not unique to WT.
