Sell By Dates - Do You Take Much Notice of Them?
by Clam insell by and use by dates on food produce seem to have become the norm these days.
on one side we have the squeaky clean supermarkets with their dating system, while on the other side is a combination of media scare stories about listeria, salmonella etc.
and voracious food standards authorities.

Did you ever 'Turn Someone In' to the elders? Do you regret it now?
by AK - Jeff ini am not proud of that, for i know the pain i caused someone as i look back.. i turned in 4 people for 'gross sins' over my tenure as a jw.
i wish i could take it back now.
were these people guilty of 'sin' as defined by the wts?

There was a girl who was the daughter of the cong. secretary and a regular pioneer.
Both of her sisters were regular pioneers too, one was married to a former bethelite.
Well, this girl was dating a football player at school, and they were involved. Rumor had it they were "caught" by his mother once.
Well, despite this illicit activity, this young girl still acted like she was better than everyone, as did the rest of her family. They were known for being snobbish and only liked by people inside their clique. (this general attitude in ANYONE bugs the hell out of me)
One sunday, guess who shows up at our meeting- the football player. An elder walks over to greet him and the football player boyfriend says he knows me from school.
Well, I avoid the boyfriend, but the elder finds me. The elder asks me why I'm not talking to the person I brought to the hall. I tell the elder that I'm not the reason he's here.
The elder says, oh well, why don't you offer him a study then.
So I tell the elder I believe he knows everything he needs to know about this organization, and he spends a lot of time with his witness girlfriend, so she'd prob. be better to study with him since they are always together anyhow.
She was publicly reproved a week later.
I never felt bad. She got humbled, who cares.
On top of that, the sister that was married to the former bethelite ran off on him and she got DFed a few months later.
I'm a vengeful person, so I never had any second thoughts about damaging other people's standing in the congregation.

What do you wish you were doing now and later?
by Crumpet inwhat i wish i was doing is sliding out of a hotel bed with a view onto the mountains or the sea and getting ready for a lazy day by the pool being served margharitas whilst i people watch and reading my book.
i'd plan on a pizza and a salad after a vigorous swim.
possibly retiring to my air conditioned room when it gets too hot for some fun with one of my two playmates.

Ok, well I've got a dream of sorts that is about to come true...
This weekend, myself and about 10 friends are headed to Myrtle Beach, SC (google it) to our friend's father's beach house. The father is rediculously wealthy, and this house is a true work of art. It has 6 bedrooms, a 5 car garage, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a huge pool, a huge deck / patio with a built in grill, and its right on the shore. We're heading down Saturday night and coming back Tuesday.
So, I wish it would hurry up and be this weekend already.
As for now, I'm sitting in a lab, running the same machine I've been running for the past month and a half. When I get done here, I'll go stab some people for another few hours, and then I'll go home and try and get some sleep.

To the forum controllers, can you come up with Awards? Good idea to me
by NotaNess ini was thinking, and not because i want any or could even get one, but i thought it would be cool to do a quarterly awards presentation(privately or not), or even on a random basis, type of award certificate presentation that can be emailed to the recipient of the certificate.. you can have an "annual" awards "e-show" if you'd like, once a year even.. i think that there are some funny as heck postings, topics, and replies on this forum that people should be recognized for.
even some down right serious emotional issues that could be recognized.. the certificate award for a particular category would be emailed as a pdf or jpeg, 8x10 size, with poster's jwdf id name, and i'm sure plenty of people here would love to print and frame them at home.. would there be a way of having "number of awards" given listed under the id name, kind of like how the posts are displayed?
no one needs to know what anyone has gotten them for, if they are given privately.. if this could be pulled off, i think it would be nice and uplifting.. possible categories anyone?

Unorthodox Ways To Save Money
by metatron inthe following suggestions are things i've witnessed or done - although i may refrain from telling you .
which for various reasons!.
1) if you think that precious metals are going up, then buy the bullion and resell it later privately.. ever see some guy at the bank struggling with a heavy safety deposit box and wonder what he's.

Did you know that bright solid copper wire is worth 2.95 a pound?
Many businesses throw it away... few hours work of stripping it down can make you a couple hundred bucks...
CASH!

It's called cruising.
for the record- we never sank that low socially. We'd all park and get out, and fill up all the tables.
Good times...
Ahh.
