Baptism talk this week at meeting

a friend of ours called to tell us that there was a 15-minute talk on baptism this week.

does anyone know if this was scheduled or if it was a special needs talk?

the congregation has been pushing this person towards baptism for years.

When I wanted to get baptized they kept coming up with different reasons why not. First my field service wasn't at the national average or above, and then no that's still not good enough because you MUST voluntarily comment a certain number of times each meeting, and so on. Then they would get on the platform and bleat about how you mustn't compare your service with anyone else's because whatever you can manage is acceptable to God and so really what prevents you from getting baptized... bleh.

Violence at Bethel

has there ever been assaults on a bethel or attacks at people within a bethel?.

with so many people hurt by the wts and that eventually leads to anger ,has anyone used violence to pay back the hurt?.

I have a relative who was assigned as a supervisor in the Bethel kitchen but became unpopular for being a bit overbearing, so a bunch of other kitchen workers ganged up on him one day and gave him an "atomic wedgie". Not sure if that counts as violence though.

Why can't I have a beard?

i've heard many times that there are some congo's in the us where you can have a neatly trimmed beard and it's perfectly ok. i have never been allowed and havn't known of anyone who could.

how about other countries?.

I suggested that myself, if you'll recall, but you declined to take up the offer. Look, all I meant was that if hanging is good enough for one murdering sack of excrement, then it's good enough for another. Of course I wouldn't hang Bush, and I wouldn't have hanged Saddam either.

I think one should have to have a minimum IQ of 75 before you can post here. I'm not sure, but I think the above poster is right around 35...you know, right above the drooling stage.

Okay then, educate me. Have a look at the number of Iraqi civilians killed by US troops, and now with your superior intelligence explain to me why George is not guilty of exactly the same thing that Saddam was put to death for.

Your answer to a JW's question "What is an alternative?"

a jw that i engaged in a series of debate finally posed this question.

i can see that he is running out of his "canned" answers and he wants to defend his organization desperately or he doesn't want to admit that he is dead wrong.

so he uses this faulty logic to depend his belief system.

Try applying the same logic to some other situation, just to demonstrate how ludicrous it is. I've invented a pill containing a special proprietary formula which cures cancer. Yes, that's right - the actual cure for cancer! What? You don't believe me? Well then, name just ONE other alternative cure for cancer. Go on, just one. Ha, you can't do it. A cure must surely exist, and since by your own admission there are no other alternatives, mine must be the one! Will you be paying by cash or credit card?

Ships do this when they are struggling against the wind. What I'd like to know is: what is the "wind" that God is struggling against that makes it necessary for him to resort to this tactic?
