Something funny I heard on Howard Stern
by TweetieBird ini was listening to howard stern this morning and robin mentioned that someone approached her with the watchtower.
she told the jw that she was not interested, he asked her if she had ever read the watchtower.
she said yes, he asked her what she thought about it and i loved her reply...she said that she thought that she never wanted to read another one.

100 % YES!!!
Their reasoning is that the bible says not to take a brother to court. I know of a sister that was disfellowshipped because she told the police about an incident that happened with her child and another brother. They think they are the top authority over you, so punishment from them is all that is needed. Also, they say " Why should we tell others what happened, it would only give jw's a bad name and why ruin our reputation for one bad individual." The problem is, there is thousands of these " individuals". They will not call the police on abuse, I know from experience. And so does plenty of other people on this forum. Of all people, they should not be judging catholic priests.

Give me ONE good reason why Adam could not have been black?
by nicolaou ini just read love2bworldys thread at did u know about the early white supremicist view of the jw's?
not wanting to hijack or divert that topic i ask the question here.. .
adam was the progenitor of the whole human race, from his genes sprang the negroid, caucasian, mongoloid, indo-european and every other race on the planet.

talesin- Hey. Don't shoot the messenger. I guess that's what happens when you watch too many Discovery Channel episodes on evolution. hahaha You have to take into account that all of the variety we have in the animal kingdom (humans included) is because of thousands, if not millions of years of change. The u.s. has numerous colors of animals white, brown, black, yellow, etc. That's not what I was saying. But over the years of migration and breeding they noticed a pattern in how the change happens. If you think of the majority of people native to an area and the color of their skin, you can see the color change happen. In general take a look- Africa, then asia, Italy, then Germany, England, then Norway. You have to admit that the color gets lighter as you go up.
America and Canada was populated differently- the baring strait. Apparently, they migrated from Asia to the America's and did not have the thousands of years of interbreeding that the europeans had, so that is why the natives stayed similar in color. I may not be an expert on the subject but I have done some research. I won't take anyone's word anymore after the jw's. So look it up if you don't believe me, but there is plenty of anthropologist that will agree.
xjw_b12- Michael Jackson must be a scientific miracle! hahaha lol

Scientist say it takes like 20- 30,000 years for a black person to turn white. I guess kind of like all animals the farther north they migrate (from the u.s.a.) the whiter they get. It does seem true- from Africa to Ireland the more white that people become.

Can't get this out of my system
by cheeseman indoes anyone else here feel that that they are kinda obsessed with all this god/satan malarky?
i mean, i've reached a point where i believe the bible is just a storybook, however, the fact i was lied to all that time by the wts just makes my blood boil.
i feel like screaming.

I used to feel this way for years after my dis-f. I used to look up the Greek and Hebrew words and act like I was a theologian. Now I've realized that it's all a fairy tale so the idea of disproving it seems shallow. If people want to believe in it, then maybe they need that belief in their life. I still believe in Santa! And nobody can tell me any different. There is too a Santa! hehehe

If there's some good in the Watchtower, why leave it?
by AlmostAtheist inthe post about crisis of conscience in which the poster said he knows there's some bad in the watchtower (as brought out in coc), but there's some good in it too got me to wondering about people that stay for the good in it.. the united states makes some decisions as a country that i don't agree with, perhaps even object strongly to.
but i don't disavow my citizenship.
it's mostly a good place to live, so i stay.. if you want to live in a way that utterly conflicts with the watchtower -- homosexual, multiple sex partners, smoking, whatever -- then you have reason to leave.

If you can find that much good in it, than stay in it. It's a free country. Maybe you need someone controling your moves at all times!

Because the story of Adam and Eve was made up by middle eastern men that started the creation story from their own genes.

I'm going to Bethel... Wanna Come?
by RichieRich inso my mother suprised me about a week ago by telling me we are going on a bus trip to bethel from april 13-17. for those of you who aren't used to this concept, american dubs seem to think that packing themselves on the bus with 60 other witnesses and driving for 4 days is somehow going to strengthen themselves spiritually.
well, i doubt that will work for me.
i was just wondering, is there anything i should look for/ be on the alert for?

I used to have to smoke due to the car accident I was in.
At the hospital they gave me morphine and when I left 2 weeks later, they sent me home with demerol. I was on that for about 3 months when they said no more and cut me off of all pain meds. I had a broken hip, phemur bone, tail bone, two ribs, and wrist. I also had a fractured neck and the middle of my spine. I had to learn how to walk again after that. The only bone they could cast was my wrist, so I had to walk on broken bones. Now... anyone that knows anything about bones knows it takes at least one year for your hip to heal. But I was only given 3 months worth of pain meds. So the dilemma... I could either be in so much pain that I wanted to kill myself or I could do something illegal and live to talk about it. So "Ms. Laura Engles" decided to smoke. ha
That experience changed me forever. I used to think that people would make up how much pain they were in just to get drugs. Now I know, people who say that, have never experienced real pain before. It is cruel that the government is allowing this torture to go on everyday. For me, death wasn't the worst thing that could happen to me anymore. If you can find a way to get rid of your pain or stress and it's not hurting anyone else, then you should do it. Trouble is, you can't smoke it too much because you'll get cancer or get caught and thrown in prison with real criminals.
I find it ironic that the person who is insisting on tougher drug laws, G.W.B. is also a former coc- head. I heard he only quit about 4 years before he became Pres. Apparently, his brother and daughers did/do it too.
Anyways, I don't do it anymore because I go to a really good chiropractor now. I don't even walk with a limp, no one would ever be able to tell that I was in such a horrible accident. I have one scar on my stomach, but in the summer I put henna over it and it covers it right up. Occasionally, I'll get a dislocated joint and it makes me want it again. But lately, I have more good days than bad. I joined up at the ymca- something I've always wanted to do as a jw but never could. Part of the reason I was in the accident in the first place was because I tried going back to the hall. I wish now that I never did go back. But I was just 19 and all of my family were still a jw and my friends were still in it. It taught me to follow my instincts on things and not doubt myself. Want to hear something weird. At the 10 year anniversary of my accident, my husband was driving us home. At the exact time (Sep. 29, 1994 around 4:20pm- Sep. 29, 2004, 4:20) we almost got into the same exact type of accident again. But this time, I saw the car pass us right on by and my mouth dropped open and I realized at that moment that I can now move on from this. That I could put it behind me, because this next 10 years is going to be great! Since then, I have been exercising, quit smoking, I don't drink coffee anymore (only tea or water), I take vitamins, flax oil, and soy milk, and I have gotten alot closer with my kids, and I let toxic people in my life go. So... my point in telling you all of this... sometimes all you really need is change. ps. sorry so long... needed to vent. Thanks.
