So... sounds like you had a great time!
Cheer up, in about a year you'll be 18, and you can wear and do, whatever you please!
ok... this is good.
for those of you who missed my last post on the topic of my bethel trip, my mother "suprised" me with a bus trip to bethel.

do you socialize with your neighbors?
everyone knows how we as a religious group only socialized with each other, then when inside the hall, we only associated with a select few, those who were deemed worthy of our association.
now that you are out, or in varying degrees of staying within the borg, are you allowing yourself to get out and mingle amongst those in your community?
One of my neighbors thinks we're worldly. They're strict Baptist. Those crazy long skirt wearing, no makeup, bonnet wearing people!
My other neighbor kept wanting to come over and bother me so I told her I was a pagan/witch, that took care of her!
But really... most of my neighbors are really nice to me and the kids play at each others house all the time. It's still weird for me to make friends with other ladies. But right now I'm just content being me.
i'm interested in your first rebellious act after 'getting out': homosexual sexadultery / fornicationklink your champange glass in a toastgrow a beardcurse (the really good words!
)go to churchdrugssmokingholidays / birthdaysoral / anal sex (with or without mate)blood transfusionfield service without filling out not-at-home slipsother (explain).
are you still involved?
i am going to try and explain this with out dragging this on so here goes, i am the youngest of four sibblings,i have a older brother which i never see and two older sisters.
i am close to my sister that is close in age to me but have a sister that is about ten years older.
when i was a teen my dad killed himself and the mother was a 24 hr mean drunk who after my dads death was committed to a nut ward.
bascially brain dead in a nursing home
The visit is not for her, it's for you. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but she's probably not going to be around much longer. Say your peace. Just because she turned out to be a bad sister doesn't mean you are. Free yourself with the gift of truth, knowing that you are much more of a caring person than she ever was in her life.
can anyone suggest alternative activities that are group oriented that are allowed by jws and not considered "worldy"?
i am not sure where the line is in regards to right or worng here, if there is a line.
i am trying to get my friend into a group function other than the jws.
They're allowed to:
Play basketball, football, tennis, hockey, ice skating, hiking, swimming, all of the other things people do.
AS LONG AS it's only done with other Jehovah's Witnesses. If you want to hang with your friend then might have to ask for a bible study.
The JW's that DO hang out with worldly people are not considered as spiritual and the shunning begins.
sorry if this is an old topic.
is it true they can't buy girl scout cookies?
if so what is the theocratic wisdom behind that?
I was never allowed to be in Girl Scouts because they would say an oath of allegiance to each other. I guess if you couldn't say your allegiance to your country you also couldn't say it to other girl scouts. Buying the cookies would show that you are supporting that cause. Apparently, everything that normal people do, was off limits. jennieb- I'm suprised you didn't get called into an elders meeting for buying thoses evil choc. mints. hahaha
Although this was a conscience matter, if they saw some at your house- watch the rumors fly that you weren't as "spiritual" as they were.
.
here is the link to a forum for discussion of christian beliefs among exwitnesses if anyone is interested.. http://wc0.worldcrossing.com/webx/[email protected]@.1dde28dd.
if you are interested in participating, you need to register with "world crossing".. ~bin
Just be careful registering with a ex-jw site. My friend filled out her name and address and other personal information when signing up with a ex-jw site , a week later the elders came to visit her. She didn't think it was a coincidence. I don't know... just wanted to tell ya'.
imagine trying to prove to someone that firmly believes in leprechauns that they simply don't exist.
where do you start?
an excellent saying i have heard is "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
First you would have to prove that there is a God.
hi ya'll.. i'm looking for advice on how to handle a neighborhood child that is bullying my son and other children in my apartment complex.
he is very mean, takes my son's stuff, tries to trip him on his bike by putting a stick into his spokes, pulling his underwear up, cussing at him.
at first i tried to talk to him nicely, asked him to please not do mean things to other children.
bebu- LMAO!!!
Maybe I'll surprise my husband this year with one of those things. hahaha
i've heard this said by a few ex-witnesses in my three years away from the organization, and have sometimes said it myself.
sometimes it is said in the context of, "i'd like to move on, but i just can't stop thinking about them.
could it not be that one of the reasons ex-jws "can't stop thinking about" the organization -- and their past involvement with it -- is that they daily log onto this site, read about the society and talk about them?
(If you treat people as if they will like you, often your attitude will show and they will like you better.)
I've found that advice to work only with people who don't already have a biased view of you. You can be perfect and the jw's will find something wrong with you.
