  Do those that shun us not love us?

  it is a mistake for former jehovah's witnesses to think that just because they are shunned by friends and family, they are no longer loved.

  isn't shunning a horrible experience, one borne from twisted psychological reasoning?

  mandated shunning from a powerful and misguided religious organization is a great sin against both the person shunned and those who are obliged, yes obliged, to shun them.

  I think the WTS are the ones that shun, and the jw's follow their orders.

  Because to them it means life and death to follow the orders of Jehovah WT. They feel that they are going to be punished by their creator if they talk to a disfellowshipped person. That fear is so strong that they will give up family and friends to save their own "after life". I think the ones that really "love" you are torn on what to do because they don't want to displease the ALMIGHTY GOD WT.

  It reminds me of that saying you always here battered women say-

  "He loves me.... in his own way".

  Brooke- Yes, I really wanted to BE one of the anointed, but mostly because I wanted to partake at the memorial. hehe

  Seattle- I always thought I was some kind of freak because I would do "nerdy" things like that to embarrass myself. Still do. But after I knew what I actually said my face was probably all red. Good thing that guy didn't ask you any further questions about why you answered the phone saying "Jehovah". hahaha lol

  question-- if a jw is disfellowshipped for having too much association with a non-witness- is this jw likely to be refused a reinstatement as long as he is associating with her-- and if so- will he be allowed to talk to her again to some degree after he is reinstated?

  EF- yay we have a winner! I wasn't sure if anyone was going to get a perfect score.

  I said that I wanted my god to be all- loving and all- free. I guess that is a contradiction since someone is not really free if they can only be one way- loving.

  OMG I never knew anyone who had this happen to them too! I was just thinking about the incident that happened with me and then I came across your post. What a shock!

  I remember dancing and singing kh songs like a silly little girl, and the phone rang and I said "Jehovah". I couldn't believe that came out of my mouth. It was my mom's friend from the kh and she told me that it wasn't appropriate to use God's name like that. She really gave me a scolding and took the dancing right out of my toes. I laugh now but at the time I thought I was going to be punished from my mom and Jehovah. haha

  Why didn't jesus write the new testement

  questions, questions, and more questions.. did jesus (if he existed) have in mind starting a world religion such as has been created around him in his name?

  if so, why did he not write the foundations for it, laying out it's laws and structure?

  why did he only rebel and lead a rebellion against the old testement priesthood?

  My requiring a higher standard of proof for god than evolution is not a flaw in logic.

  What do you mean? I've always heard that evolution would disprove god.

  upside- We should all celebrate festivus for the rest of us!!!! I miss new Seinfield's.

  I think it's time for this generations new crack pot religion to start and make up it's own holidays. Hey, maybe thousands of years from now people will be celebrating festivus holidays! lol I wonder what that would look like?!!! lol

  Earlier you said that it is not justifiable to base one's beliefs about the external world on a firm, inner conviction, paying no regard to the external evidence, or lack of it, for the truth or falsity of this conviction, but now you say it's justifiable to believe in God on just these grounds. That's a flagrant contradiction!

  Here's my reasoning- I don't personally believe that God exists but if I want to believe in something that I know is not real, then that is my prerogative. Look how happy Santa makes everyone. I choose what part of the "god" belief I want because I'm part atheist, part catholic, part wiccan, part agnostic, all in one.
