oh ya, and then at the end, my friends can chop up my body, and feed them to the alligators. :) they could even have a chopped up josh flesh fight, where they all laugh hysterically while whipping pieces of me at each other.

i know that this is a morbid topic, but i often wonder what kind of funeral that i should have.
i mean, i'm not associated with any religion.
i don't want a preacher there speaking about the afterlife or trying to recruit followers.

mine's gonna be in an old run down house out on a swamp. and everyone will party really hard, and do alot of drugs and then drink all the next day. there will be midgets and $60.00 hookers and and a lot of blues, blasting out onto the night. and they'll strap explosives onto propane tanks and shoot at them with shotguns and have BBQd endangered species shishkabobs. and when you're all really good and wasted, you can read one of my threads from jwd with the aria for g string from the goldberg variations by bach and cry a little, and then say one last prayer to me. and there has to be a lot of tom waits, and leonard cohen and bob dylan. and people just breaking out into spoken word poetry. and you have to invite johnny depp just incase he would come. and you can all get around and sing the weight by the band with an old guitar. and it has to be really casual. like if some people just wanna go off and have sex or something, then that's cool, you know? oh, and make sure you all use up the rest of my bulk buy paints on the walls. all of the paint i never used. just don't paint over the paintings, though. and there can be felini films playing on tv's all through the house. and there has to be a chill out room too, where people go to veg and talk about the universe and existence and death and god and trip out really hard. ha ha! yes... that would be my funeral.

i have not been on this board in a while for various reasons.
the main reason being that my best friend died on march 11th, and things have been different since that day.
i don't have words to describe how the void feels, so i won't even attempt.
fairchild, (one of my first JWD friends too)
so sorry to hear about this.
in my world, death is the end of conscious existence, forever. which is a heavy thought for me. if one of my friends died, i would cherish the mental freedom i have gained by leaving the borg, because it is the mental freedom that will allow me to live the next 50 years of my life to the fullest. if i went back to the borg, i would really only be kidding myself, and i would know it.
we're out now, whether we like it or not. we can go back physically, but we'll never be back mentally. that's why i would say that, in the name of your friend, take the mental freedom you have gained, and live the rest of your life like it was the last time you would ever be conscious again. because while we don't know for sure what comes after death, living it like there was nothing is the one thing we can do right. you couldn't be a witness and do that.
my 2 cents.
email me anytime you want to talk.

which of the myriads of gods would you take your chances with if you had to and why?
.
i choose christ because he preaches peace, love and understanding but only as long as he doesn't come as a package with jehovah.
fairchild dahling!! ...yes indeed, and not as nearly as often as i should! bad god! bad!
hope all is well in the hills. talk soon.
cheers,

ya, like SNG said, parsimony favours a lack of a "God". it's not a 50/50 option really. and that's why i'm an atheist and not an agnostic.
but on the other hand, for all intents and purposes, i am indeed a god. and there is plenty of evidence for my existence that satisfies me. true, i may be no more than a hologram, but it's more than can be said for this jesus guy. therefore, i would argue in favour of the existence of god. :) i would argue in favour of the existence of trillions of gods here on earth. heaven and hell, all wrapped up in one.
i find it amusing that people still use the arguments from design and incredulity so often when asked this question:
theist: "well, look around! we see design everywhere! there must be a god."
atheist: "well, how do you know it was designed?"
theist: "i can't fathom that it wasn't designed! it's too complex!"
which is like saying: "i have a poor imagination and havent read much natural history."
strawman? i think not. i see it used all the time, including this thread.

scientists have claimed to have found the missing link between fish and land animals on ellesmere island ,canada.
I left the borg because of evolution myself
dude, this is super rare among ex-wits. trust me, i know. it's the same reason i left too. after biology, there is nothing left of their doctrine. but so few see that while in. kudos to you.

HAS AN EVOLUTIONARY LINK BEEN DISCOVERED?
there are no such thing as "links". either there are no links, and everything in the history is one large multi dimensional genetic gradient, or everything is a link. read the blind watch maker by dawkins for a wicked run down of what i mean. seriously.
"links" is used by the braindead media, and those whose motives are shaped by blinders, to give you the impression that evolution by natural selection is just as simple a process as "creation" is.
let me put it this way: every single fossil ever found... ever ever ever ever, is a "link" between us, and whatever common ancestor we share with the orgasism that made the fossil. and in that light, every single thing that exists today, every single organism alive, is a "link" to us and our grand evolutionary past with which we are but yet only discovering.
as an example: homo neandetalis, commonly know as neanderthals, are probably our closest *evolutionary* cousins. the common ancestor we share with them is not that far in our evolutionary past. however, our closest *living* evolutionary cousins are the chimpanzees, aka pan troglodytes. but the common ancestor we share with them is like 4 *million* years ago. much much older than the neanderthals or homo erectus.
so, if you, or others, are looking for "links", search no farther than when we first started unearthing the fossils of distant bipedal cousins, because they are links between "man" and "ape" because they fall between "us" and "chimps". in other words, look at yourself in the mirror, really soberly, and behold the missing link.
cheers,
TS
Indeed. There comes a time to put down the menu, and eat the food.
