yeah i'm in...i just started reading again lol
just so long as they all don't have to be 'worthy' books
i've been thinking about organizing a jwd book club.
would anyone be interested?
everyone could throw out suggestions of books and i could pick one at random for each read.. i was thinking a book every 2 weeks, but i know a lot of people have kids and obligations so maybe every month would be better?

jehovah's necklaces17/02/2008nurses are calling for jehovah's witnesses to wear special bracelets and necklaces so they won't be given "sinful" blood transfusions by mistake.. most of britain's 125,000 witnesses carry pocketsized cards declaring their religious beliefs.
but nurses say that in an emergency there may be no time to check a patient's pockets.. the royal college of nursing have urged the watchtower society, which represents the witnesses, to ask members to wear the bracelets or necklaces.. .
well some entrepreneurial witness could make a killing here...
better do it quick tho before gb outlaws jw jewellers taking advantage...and local needs items discuss the dangers of competition re who has the best medical emergency id..
and then the gb decide themselves to equalise by mass producing the ids themselves - contribution basis only of course but lets remember bros charge free doesn't mean cost free - and then western jws decide to renew their's every year and send their old ones to africa..(can't send them new stuff cos well ..they might be brothers but they are still african)
climbing the jw ladder is so important to some of the zealous, childless, jw couples.
to reach the goal there seemed to be untold amounts of political intrigue, arse licking & generally being a pious knob end.
loved by few, hated by most.

haha..if you are from edinburgh i know who you are talking about..lol (cant remember his name - star trek fan)
i wanted to be a c.o.
i'm quite sure there are people who would say that i was too keen..if by keen they mean being enthusiastic genuinely loving it and being good at speaking preaching shepherding counselling and forgiving.
my problem was i really really couldn't play the game..i was useless at political intrigue and worse at arse licking..i could be pious on occasions but only to knob ends not as one..worst of all i was loved by most and hated by few. unfortuntely for me the few that hated were generally those who were in a position to make the recommendations and they hated because i was perceived as a threat to their position. and to think i used to believe that it was all guided by holy spirit..
which is the really sad thing - since i was unaware that politics arse licking etc etc were factors then i was left thinking that jehovah and the holy spirit were telling me that i did not qualify.
cue beakdown..and wrongdoing..and df-ing..and disillusionment..and suicial tendancies........................
and freedom..which is just another word for nothing left to lose
in pre-studying my watchtower for this sunday, (with mary's assistance on v's thread of course), i was reminded of something i've wondered about re: the whole "will the residents of sodom & gomorrah be resurrected?
" question.. to my knowledge, this one holds the watchtower record for most number of flip-flops.
please correct me if i'm wrong.
1989 - Will not be resurrected
all these flip flops and still they have it wrong..at the moment.......
Question: Why are these people not going to be resurrected according to the WTS? Do you remember ever reading where Lot and his family preached/warned these people?
When the tsunami struck a few years we were discussing it after the group study and someone commented on what to say to the idea that it was an act of God...Someone else remembered a talk that had been given showing what constitutes an act of God and said that it would have to be selective so no righteous died and that God wouldnt ever act without first giving a warning and quoted as examples noah & sodom/gomorrah...so i said oh when did sodom & gomorrah get preached to then...shocked look as if to say how dare you question something we've always believed with anything remotely resembling reason and truth..speedy recovery though--ah well j. had already seen that there was no one righteous there..hold on i said..j had also condemned the nearby city of zoar to destruction but when lot kept dragging his feet and then complained that running to the hills was just a bit too much to ask for survival j let him go to zoar thereby sparing that city from destruction...
so...was it not possible for j to insist lot fled to the hills or the angels who dragged him out anyway just to keep dragging him...thereby ensuring that zoar that had already been judged worthy of destruction got destroyed...if not then why condemn it in the first place..response--j obviously destroyed it later..well guess what..he didnt.zoar continued for centuries meaning that all the inhabitants that died natural deaths will get a ressurection.
conclusion....sodom and gomorrah inhabitants must get a ressurection...sure they died at the time for their sinfulness probably because they posed a threat to the human race survival (aids would have arrived much sooner had it not been checked imho) but nineveh proved that condemned people preached to can turn around and sodom & gomorrah were never given that opportunity.
interestingly in a recent wt that discusses the ressurection it makes the point that korah dathan and abiram who were executed by j went into sheol and not gehenna so will get a ressurection from there..tijkmo
i can only think of one person who actually seemed to have "joy in her heart "on the min when i studied , and even the dubs used to hate being put with this person, it all seems so obvious now that it has nothing to do with a love for god , but doing whats expected of you
i am gonna keep it as simple as this...please answer this simple one question to you who do not believe in intelligent design.. but wait...you notice how evolution leaves out all the obvious details about the human body..which leads to my question how did man and woman evolved???
well my bible says god put man to sleep and took one of his ribs..and made woman.
whats your non god explanation...lol..i,ll wait..i need a good laugh tonight..
i just dont think i can take it anymore....my wife of 11 years is such a great gal... but we are just not connecting anymore......otwo says hang in there...as she may come around and wake up!!
!....but the extreme differences in our lifes are starting to take a toll...and may be making me want to drink too much.....i should not need to self medicate like this!!
!.....soooooo wish i had never woken up or could just deal with the real truth....what a rock to my world.......nothing will be the same.................................................oompa.
first off, i no longer believe the bible to be the inspired word of god.
but with my heart i want to believe.
i love the idea of an all-powerful deity that cares for me and the rest of humanity.
I knew if I stuck around here long enough I'd find an explaination of how I feel about it all. That's it! I am agnostic mentally but a believer at heart. How screwed up is that
i knew that if i stuck around long enough i would find someone who was looking for someone to explain how they felt and then for that someone to find said someone and breathe a sigh of relief that someone felt similarly and the first someone to also feel relief that they weren't alone and that their thinking wasnt stupid.
how cool is that
and then there three..at least..if not more in fact
so, at the request of another poster ssrriotsquad and others i wanted to get your opinion on your favorite paul mccartney albums when he went solo either with the group wings or without.
also your favorite songs by him after he left the beatles !
so, it should be interesting !
I played Mull of Kintyre so much in the past (well I am Scottish!) that the very thought of it now makes me want to gag.....
ha deeskis i know what you mean lol..i played it to death too..it was so simple to play on acoustic...but the bagpipes were not so easy..at one party i was at i got a bunch of guys to play combs and paper..which was ok in a small room..mostly i just whistled that bit.
one year at edinburgh pre convention a party had been arranged at leith town hall and i played it there (after a shocking monty python's this isn't an argument sketch so i was always going to top that) and i had to whistle which didn't work quite so well in a large auditorium. fast forward a bunch of years and i moved into a new pioneering assignment and someone in the hall came and asked me if i was the guy who played mull of kintyre...it was the guy who had organized the party (and was responsible for the awful monty python sketch lol)
recognition...gotta love it.
doesn't beat the time i played bright eyes for a kids party...and they actually thought i was art garfunkle..
good times

Mull Of Kintyre outsold any individual records ever sold by the Beatles, so it must be good.
no hs you completely miss the point...
the reason why mull of kintyre sold so well was not so much because of the song...
but because it had bagpipes in it...
which means that the bagpipes must be the best musical instrument ever
