  A really annoying text

  this is a really irritating text that i received from an old jw acquaintance.. .

  i would like to tell you that the latest book we received 'keep yourselves in god's love', says that jw have to strictly avoid someone disfellowshipped.

  the same applies to someone who left organization.

  Pink Floyd founder Richard Wright & writer David Foster Wallace Dead

  two sad notes - just heard that pink floyd founder and keyboardist richard wright has died of cancer at 65. .

  also, a remarkable writer, david foster wallace, hung himself last friday.

  he was 46, gifted, and had long battled depression.

  i don't normally get affected by death esp of folk not close to me and esp esp of 'stars'.. but i feel sad about this.. didnt know he was ill..he obviously chose to keep it quiet rather than do a 'hello' spread...and i hope he died peacefully and as dignified as cancer allows you to be. his playing may not have been 'technical' (thank goodness) it may even on occasion have been quiet and 'simple' . but it was always exactly what was needed and for that it was perfect. r.i.p. mr richard wright

  Anybody know why a show time states TBD?

  i have tickets to a concert and i know it is in wake of ike and houston is a mess...but on a trivial side, the concert her in dallas midweek has tbd on its time.

  the same for an albuquerque show.

  does anyone know why the roster does not state a time?

  sometimes an event will say TBC which means - to be confirmed

  but if the tickets are printed then the times are usually set already.

  unless it stands for to be decided..or someother word beginning with D

  anyhoo only way to guarantee you will see it all will be to get there in plenty of time like you are planning.

  pioneer hour change is legit.

  letters are being mailed out soon to all congregations for announcement in early october right before the tract campaign starts.. .

  elimination of circuit overseers.

  Another alternative that was apparently discussed was to select the most capable elders in each circuit and give them extra training in handling judicial matters, and only they would handle the judicial committees in the circuit - they would become a sort of 'mobile circuit court.'

  well i wrote to the gb with exactly this suggestion unaware that it had already been discussed and scrapped. but of course to set up this arrangement would be an admission that the present jcs don't have divine direction which is the reason given as to why their decisions can't be questioned.

  when i think of the presiding overseers that i served with i truly fear for the congregations they would be visiting. as another poster observed the oppurtunity for personal vendettas would be too much to resist for some of these bullies.

  but don't forget that there will be thousands of present cos who will be likely appointed as pos in various congregations and who would certainly be first in the frame for the new arrangement. i don't see there being a shortage of elders willing/fighting to be used in this position.

  of course getting anything done in the cong might present a problem if they are away for a number of weekends a year given that most bodies of elders are loathe to actually make any decisions if the po is away on holiday or ill etc etc.

  i am really beginning to believe we were all just made to believe in a fairy tale.

  i still love jehovah and jesus but my faith is just wasting away behind waiting for a change such as the rapture/armaggeddon/paradise earth.

  Annoying trend in TV commercials...

  have you noticed how it seems that the tactic of making commercials deliberately annoying is becoming popular?

  i'm sure you can think of a commercial or two that quickly becomes like fingernails on a chalkboard.

  that is why they are produced and repeated over and over, they accomplish the purpose of getting your attention and causing you to remember them.

  The thing that really burns me is that when they go from network programming - to commercial - the volume goes up be a few decibels. To the point that I get annoyed more by the loudness - rather than the actual commercial.

  My wife chides me - cause I keep the remote nearby - and when the commercials come on - I hit the mute button. It also allows conversation during the commercials.

  there is a different compression added to adverts to make them louder...

  originally i guess this served to make them stand out..

  but now it appears to be counter productive.

  i too mute the adverts merely because i have to grab the remote to turn them down anyway..so it is easier to press one button when they begin and another when they end rather than juggle the volume.

  i understand that companies have to advertise...and i also want to know about some events or releases that i might otherwise have missed. but i have to say that if the volume stayed the same then i wouldnt mute and would continue watching. i'm sure many others do likewise..so tv companies i think you should take note of that.

  i have also noticed that when you record something on tape or dvd then even at fast forward the barand name can still be seen so it still makes an impression..this makes more sense than increasing the volume

  moses is preparing his "make my brother do it " speech to jehovah cuz he's ascard to have to talk to pharoah about lettin his people go from eygpt.

  the lord butts in and goes bi-polor on moses ass and tells him he's gonna kill his sorry arse cuz moses kids dinger still looks like an anteater and the lord wants then damn thing snipped off pronto or he's gonna kill em!
