i'd recaptured the "community," (or, perhaps, better said: the "community" had recaptured me).

my wife and i were invited to one party after another, old friends, and new friends.

indeed, there was a considerable degree of subliminal suspicion about me; after all, i'd been dfd, and who knew what i really thought?

You Can't Get It Back

the higher education thread got me thinking about the thing i loathe, despise, hate with the intensity of a thousand suns about the wbts, namely, the loss of my childhood.

i remember when engaging in blistering arguements with my parents about being able to play sports or take up an instrument or dream of being an astronaut, or whatever thing the society frowned on that i wasn't allowed to do at the end i would always get the same final reply, "when you are 18 and out of the house you can do whatever you want.

i can go back and play pop warner football, or little league baseball, or play in the school band, etc?

Is't God gonna kill SOMBODY on Armadeddon?

maybe i'm confused, but most comments on on this subject seem to suggest that people are appalled at the idea that jw's say god will kill alot of people on armageddon.

especially children.

i'm wondering why is this so outlandish a concept?

Hi Joel, I believe god's promise to Noah was that he'd never again use a flood to destroy the earth, hence the rainbow. Is that what you're talking about?

Hellrider, didn't god send an angel to kill every firstborn in Egypt that time?

Interesting question James. I consider myself a christian, and since Jesus CHRIST said all scripture is inspired and beneficial, it's not so hard for me to believe.

Maybe I'm confused, but most comments on on this subject seem to suggest that people are appalled at the idea that JW's say God will kill alot of people on armageddon. Especially children. I'm wondering why is this so outlandish a concept? Didn't God kill a ton of people in the flood? What about Soddom and Gomorrah? Didn't he send an angel to kill every first born alot of them CHILDREN during that Moses situation?

Doesn't the bible (no matter which version) document several examples of God saving a small group of people, while obliterating another larger group? Did he ever make exceptions for that larger group's innocent CHILDREN?

Why is this a point of contention? Or am I missing the point?

(Heading out now to see that movie Flightplan, hope it's good, I'll check back here in a few hours)
