My present arrived! As soon as I got in, I went straight to the front door, opened it and there on my doorstep was the box I have been waiting for. Thank you Not Interested! I love both of them! It is a Joy of Cooking desk calendar and a Feng Shui for the Kitchen book! So obviously, you have the answer as to whether I had enough patience to wait for Christmas to open it!Not a chance! (Also there was no "Don't open until Christmas" note, so I figured I was safe!) Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Paranoid Schizophrenia
by Nickey inthis is an issue that i've had to look into due to the extreme paranoia of my mother.
it's getting ridiculous.
and it get's worse everytime she reads the publications.

(((Nickey))) My heart goes out to you. What a difficult situation to live in. I am with those that are of the opinion that it would be best to remove yourself from the house as soon as possible. Her threats to kill herself are manipulative of you and your emotions. It is not likely to improve, and the fact that she is physically abusive to you is an added danger. You need to protect yourself from further harm, emotional and physical. You are no longer a child, and obedience is not a relevant argument for your grandfather to try to use.You are an adult and no longer under anyones subjection in those terms. Paranoia is one of the most difficult mental illnesses to treat because as you have seen, the person with the illness is often able to pull out a "sane act" to fool others due to their inability to trust anyone for the fear that the one offering help is out to get them. I hope that you are able to find your way out of this situation and move on to a healthy life.

Do you still know your bible?
by JH in.
how many here can still take the bible and find any verse like before, without searching through the bible and the index?

I must admit to never knowing it that well in the first place. Comes from years of honing the fine art of inattention at all the meetings I had no choice but to attend!

My landlord is such a complete dork
by lauralisa inif there are any real estate agents out there, or people who know about such matters, i would really appreciate some opinions.... if not, i could really use some plain old sympathy.
just 8 months ago, my mate & i moved over 1000 miles to a new state .
we found a house to rent.

Unfortunately, it is probably in your lease that they have the right to show it provided they give 24 hours notice. Check the lease laws in your state, but I know that here, even if a property is sold, the new owners are required to honor the lease. Sorry you are going through all of this right now! Hang in there! If they are really asking way above market value, maybe you will not have to worry about too many people looking at it.

Work ethics
by freedom96 ina while back, in one of the businesses i have, i needed to hire a salesman.
i was thinking of running an ad, and then thought to myself, i should give a friend of mine the job.
i have known "john" for over ten years, and he needed to make money bad.

What freedom is referring to is successful at home in terms of business, not relationships. "John" is not in business for himself, at this time and it is unlikely that he ever will be. He says he wants to be, and that he wants to make the big bucks, but the point is that he puts in minimal effort at work- which at the moment is his main bread and butter, and is unwilling to go the extra mile or work harder to help get himself out of the financial hole he has dug for himself. If he works late one day, he will come in late the next day to compensate. He is unwilling to leave his "comfort zone" for anything, will not under any circumstances do an ounce of work that was not included in his original job description because it is "not what he was hired for".No real ambition to succeed. What he wants out of all his time on the internet researching get rich quick schemes is a business that will not require him to do anything he doesn't want to do, such as talk to people. He is a fan of those " send out 2000 postcards, don't have to talk to anyone, mentor anyone, or put any effort in besides mailing the postcards" kind of businesses. The point is, he wants to make the $$ but refuses to extend himself in any way, shape or form. He is essentially unwilling to grow, adapt or change to achieve his "goals" . If one has a true goal to accomplish something above and beyond the ordinary, then they are usually willing to step up and do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals, and this he will not do.

Caligirl is also still waitingby the mailbox, but not on the still waiting list. Did the post office decide that I don't live at my address again and send my gift back? Or does scootergirl know something I don't and it is on the way?

Gasoline Price in your area
by JH inyesterday alone the price of gasoline went up 9 cents a liter here in eastern canada passing from 68 to 77 cents a liter.
a one day jump of 9 cents a liter is equal to about 40 cents a gallon.
so now we pay 77 cents a liter or 3.50$ a canadian gallon.

Regular Unleaded is 1.59. premium is around $1.91/gal. I always find it interesting that the price can vary so widely in different areas of the country. All depends on the perceived income level of the area I guess - charge whatever you think people are willing to pay!

You will never grow old
by Elsewhere ini was looking at the quotes web site and came across a jewel: *** awake!
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years.
of the generation that observed the beginning of the 'last days' in 1914, jesus foretold: 'this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.

Exactly the kind of drivel that led my parents to beleive that their children would never hit elementary school... revised to never going to middle school...revised to unlikely to reach high school... revised to whoops! All of their children realized what a load of crap it all was and are now living happily free of the whole mess while the parents approach their 30th year of toiling endlessly and enduring lots of stress induced health problems stemming from vehement denial that they have wasted all of that time for absolutely nothing.

Simon - I am glad it arrived safely! I was worried, given the distance that it had to travel!
