The Seeker Speaks
by Farkel in"when a person does what he always does, he will get what he always gets.".
wise words, those.
i have discovered after six-and-a-half decades that those who say they have found the truth, the way, the path for themselves and for all mankind, they are full of shit.

The more I learn, the less that I know for sure. There are so few absolutes in life.
Agreed. Paradoxes and uncertainty seem to be the only absolutes

Dinosaurs Of Eden
by TD ini saw this at the visiting nurse book sale in february and it was too macabre to pass up.. .
the book is written by ken ham, an australian born, young earth creationist.
briefly, two children go back in time using the bible as their "time machine" and discover that dinosaurs of the entire mesozoic era coexisted with adam and eve:.

Why you CAN'T make sense of it.
by baltar447 ingoing through an dealing with a mentally ill spouse (living hell, long story, pm me if you want details), and talking to others who have dealt with the mentally ill, i've come to an epiphany.. you cannot make sense of "crazy".
that's why, when you get out of the wt, get out of the mind control, and try to reason with your loved ones or friends, it will not work.
we are dealing with people under mind control and i believe that is a close cousin of mental illness.

Jehovahs Witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?
by Marvin Shilmer injehovahs witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?.
today i added a new article to my blog sharing information from a 1983 study published in the journal for the scientific study of religion addressing religious affiliation and psychiatric diagnoses.
this article pulls information from an excellent academic study that is often misunderstood and therefore underutilized for its value.

In some ways this is good. I saw a lot of mentally abnormal people get a lot of love and acceptance in my own former religion and I often wondered what would have become of them without the church. Many of these people were fully functioning but socially reclusive and church gave them hope , purpose and structure. This is one area where I think religion can excel and I would expect to see a higher incidence of mental issues in the same way I would expect to find more sick people in a hospital.
Agreed. In some ways.

My imagination was always with me, as far as I can recall
Fate, if you will and circumstance augmented it during times of duress in the wonder years
It's since served me well in creative endeavors and in problem solving, talents honed over time

Why Worry About Stopping Comets?
by AGuest ingiven their relative size (usually), maybe we should learn to stop meteors first:.

Who is worrying about stopping comets?
I would think deflecting would require less effort.
I would think that as well. Much less. Construction workers can push a heavy suspended steel beam into fine position by hand. Same idea.
The atmosphere is not really a defense; it has no effect against anything big enough whose impact would alter the global climate. Sure it prevents small stuff from getting through, but defense here is kinda moot.
The danger is from large objects of course and it's only a matter of time before the cosmic event clock hits midnight again.

What's wrong with the way we interpret prophecy?
by EdenOne ini've posted this somewhere else, but i think it's worth some discussion here as well.
the original thread revolves around the interpretation of the time for the great tribulation to occurr.
i've pointed out if the problems we ran into in the past and present about interpreting prophecies are troubled by the false premise that we are living in the "last days".. .

The fact that prophecy needs interpretation in the first place is rather telling, dontcha think?
