The moon tonight.
by Defianttruth ini was in my yard tonight with telescope watching jupiter.
jupiter is as close to the moon as it will be in the next 13 years.
to my surprise, the moon had a corona which is pretty rare for where i am standing.

A word of caution
by Socrateswannabe inplease forgive me if you consider this to be presumptuous, i know i am an ultra-newbie here.
but, i see a lot of threads on jwn that read something like, "what is your dog's name" or "where's your favorite vacation spot", "what's your special name for your spouse", etc.
i give the opening posters of these threads the benefit of the doubt that they are creating them simply for entertainment purposes.

But if there are others with malicious intent who lurk here, couldn't they start a database of all these "fun" posts, and perhaps by a sort of trianglation of crossfire, nail someone's identity? Unlikely, I'm sure, but still a possibility?
Anything's possible but that would be far too much work and too orwellian, even for the average dub. And the higher up you go, the less concerned they are with individuals, in most organizations. So it's rather unlikely to be "outed" that way. More likely by befriending a poster under false pretenses.
It's always good policy to limit personal info on the web in general and be vague in direct contact until time and trials say otherwise. If of course, you've something to lose.

Boundary Changes for Congregations and Secrecy
by Vienna Angelika inright now the congregations in winnipeg are undergoing major boundary changes which will be put in action at the beginning of february.
our congregation is supposed to find out today but i decided to ask some people i knew who went the previous meeting if we were going to be put together with the people at our old congregation who are shunning me.
even though they knew, they refused to tell me because "the society" told them not to tell us.

This happened here about 20 yrs ago or so as I recall, a few years after I left. The cong I went to was dissolved/absorbed into another and some properties were sold, at least the hall I went to was. I drive by it every now and then; it's on a major route. Seems like a lifetime ago.

CLOUD ATLAS: a movie or a life experience?
by Terry inmy 19 year old daughter lily and i attended the opening day of cloud atlas.. .
i would suggest you watch this little "overview" before continuing.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubk647t944a&feature=bfa&list=plvfin74qx3twq2dnqx5f4wlrrr5b-pez7.
movies can be a lot of things ranging from mindless entertainment, spectacle, diversion, exploitation and such to straight storytelling.. what movies almost never are is what cloud atlas is.. what is it?.

I liked it. One of those movies where you'd get something new each with each viewing

Philosophy: The Theory of Everything:
by frankiespeakin inhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/theory_of_everything_(philosophy).
in philosophy, a theory of everything or toe is an ultimate, all-encompassing explanation of nature or reality.
[1][2][3]adopting the term from physics, where the search for a theory of everything is ongoing, philosophers have discussed the viability of the concept and analyzed its properties and implications.

Martial Arts?
by Godsendconspirator ini have always had a love for martial arts (didn't know how to fight, just admire what the human body can do), but since jdub-land banned it, i just kinda forgot about it.
i admire nate quarry (an 'apostate' mma fighter) and i have been boxing for a year now.
i decided to switch over to muay thai.

A bit of hapkido back in the day. Nothing formal or fancy, mostly joint manipulation/locks, a few throws and pins, basic self defense.
Tai chi is fascinating though. Should make the time...
