We all have the same thoughts. It's all about control. But I find it ironic, we sit through meetings 3 times a week, over 5 hours. And most of what we hear is how bad "worldy" people are and we should limit contact or plain stay away but then it shifts to love the "worldy" people, seek them out and talk to them. Just a strange change in thinking, in hind sight.

the real purpose of field service
by what_Truth? ini've been racking this around my brain for a minute now.
you've got people puttin in an average of 10 hours a month, giving away countless publications, and still only converting one or two families every 20 years or so.
this raises an obvious question, "if the door to door ministry doesn't bring in converts why do it?

Birthdays?
by jula71 in*** job 1:4-5 ***
4 and his sons went and held a banquet at the house of each one on his own day; and they sent and invited their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
5 and it would occur that when the banquet days had gone round the circuit, job would send and sanctify them; and he got up early in the morning and offered up burnt sacrifices according to the number of all of them; for, said job, ?maybe my sons have sinned and have cursed god in their heart.?

That is the way Job would do always.
Call me crazy, but that sounds alot like a birthday. If I remember, Job and his sons were a pretty wholesome bunch. Has any one ever asked an Elder about this?

"For the scripture says to Pharaoh," Even for this same purpose I have raised you up, that I might show My power in you, and that My name might be declared in all the earth."
Here's what I got out of it. Once again the topic of freewill comes into play. God raised Pharaoh up to be like that just so God could beat him up to show how powerful he is? Could Pharaoh have gone along with God?s plan from the beginning? If so, would there be a display of power? Did Pharaoh even have a choice?

Bible Reading Leading to More Doubt Than Faith... :(
by jeanniebeanz inok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.
the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?
murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.

The Bible makes a lot more sense if you read it with the idea that it is NOT inspired, but rather the writings of people who were trying to justify what they had already done.
Excellent point, that the same feeling I have when I read certain verse in the Hebrew scriptures. It is much easier to kill when the people believe you have been ordered to by God.
