Hey all,
What causes the extra spaces when I post? I use Firefox on Windows XP, and do not cut and paste, but type directly into the box. When I use automatic cr/lf, all these spaces are added to my post

THE HLC: DID THESE GUYS GO TO COLLEGE FOR THIS STUFF?
by stillAwitness ina 5 page letter was read last night from the gb in reference to the hospital liaison committe.
i never knew those guys had so much power!
i tried best i could to write down all the important points word for word as they were said: (apparently the letter will not be posted on the board but anyone is free to speak to an elder with any questions concerning the letter:

stilla -- surely you jest.
The HLC are all proud graduates of The University of Awake Medical School.
In, fact most of the findings from their quack research staff are published monthly in the august medical journal Awake. Why, reading the Awake is better than reading The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, and Nature combined.
See for yourself. Over at the Freeminds site, you can find a listing of landmark discoveries made at Awake University. (link below). Where else can you find out that vaccinations are harmful, aluminum is bad for you, and asparin too.

One last act of separation
by jeanniebeanz inwell, i was cleaning out the last of the boxes from our move to texas and i came across my old new world translation.. i stopped and looked at it for a while, leafed through the pages to see the notes, hastily scribbled during some talk or another, little pieces of my life and world... some of the comments triggering memories of conventions, or relatives, mainly though, triggering feelings of... nothingness.. nothingness... that is what my time as a witness has boiled down to.
years of my life offered gladly to an organization that i believed would show me, and those whom i loved, the way to a better life where there would be no, "sickness, death or suffering" all meant nothing.. it used to make me mad or sad thinking about these things, but now there is just nothing.. not even when i think about my dad.
i used to get so upset at having lost him; i'd cry and hope that he'd see the light and leave the organization.

It's the strangest feeling to feel nothing.

I hope to get there someday. :-)

Question for JWs still on the "inside":
by Hellrider injust a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?
i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!
how do you deal with that?

I feel bad for those who have to keep up the facade. fortunately, my life situation allowed me to quietly fade away. I respect that not everyone has it so good, and will never judge another's situation.

if you haven't read it, you won't get the following.. so last wednsday night, after the fine spiritual feast prepared by the governing body and delivered by their "spirit appointed" waiters, i was approached by an one of the brothers who served on my judicial committee.

Compulsion: Contributions -No, Blood, Yes!
by metatron inwhat sort of warped logic prevails amidst the elderly vultures who run the watchtower that allows them to compel.
someone's death in refusing a blood transfusion ("disassociation") but avoids compelling anyone from contributing.
money?

Hi Metatron,
I really enjoy your threads and posts. However, I'm not quite sure I follow.
Even if they did "officially" drop the Blood ban and kept an "unofficial" one -- how is that any better? It's similar to voting. Technically, JW are allowed to vote. However, the CO re-iterated that "sometimes Caesar forces the WT to say one thing publically, but we all know what Jehovah REALLY wants."
>So, how would the "soft ban" on blood you propose be any different in practice? -

have elders ever been sued successfully?
by silentWatcher inquote: what i am waiting for is one of their rank and file elders to get sued over this issue and some of the hospital liaison puppets to lose everything he owns because of it.
this point was brought up in the "big news has started" thread (and is now buried on page 3).
interesting point, and i wonder if anyone has ever heard of a case where elders have been successfully sued over judicial matters (slander / libel) or wrongful death (blood)?

Have local congregations been sued successfully either?
My point is this: Smaller entities are easier to sue, since they have shallow pockets. Even hiring a lawyer alone would bankrupt most elders. Also, the WT cannot offer legal assistence, since that would signify culpability for the elder's actions.
just a thought.

My gut feeling is that IF one of these wrongful death cases goes to trial, and reaches a jury, a large award against the WT is certain.
The problem will be getting to trial. And even IF you win, good luck collecting. The whole corperate re-org in 2000 (which created the Christian Congregation of JWs) was meant to shield their ass-ets if they lose a suit such as this.
Just keeping it real. The worker's comp stuff is much, much larger IMHO.
