  Witness School

  has anyone here ever gone to a witness school.

  you know the school jw's set up to keep their kids separate from the world.

  you would have the daily text every morning and of course a kingdom song had to be sung.. i'd love to hear your experiences.

  I looked over the new system school website and don't quite get it. It looks like if you join you're just homeschooling your children. There isn't a building or anything that you send them to. It looks like you send $125 bucks in but I can't see what you get back. Perhaps a list of required textbooks? It seems really lame to me. Parents could go to the home schooling legal defense fund website themselves and get as much information without paying nss a dime.

  Listener I had noticed the same thing... there was something like this when I was a teenager I was homeschooled and there was a group that organized field trips for homeschooled JWs. I think my mom paid dues to be a part of that too.

  i'm in the world trade center in boston, sitting looking out at boston harbor.

  i have to do a presentation today at the build boston show... a tradeshow for architects and builders.

  at the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.

  i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.

  i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

  Meaning of Amen

  when i was a kid my dad told me that when you said "amen" at the end of your prayer, that it meant "praise to jehovah".

  i was listening to howard stern this morning and they were discussing the death of the pope, and they mentioned that his last word was "amen".

  robin(the woman that does the news on the howard stern radio show) asked them what they thought that "amen" meant.

  as a dub i was always taught that the reason j couldn't deal with us directly was because he was so holy and we were so not holy, that he couldn't even deal with us directly.

  so we are in quarantine, through no fault of our own from our "father" in heaven.

  then how come satan got to enter in before j himself and question and debate before all the angels.

  Qcmber, if I follow that reasoning, that would mean we're all fictional! If Job is not real, what makes Satan real? Some say, Adam & Eve are not real, the Bible is not real, if that's the case, then what is?

  yup thats scary. I also heard the other day there is a theory in the scientific (sp?) community that magnetic north and south are going to reverse plunging all electronics into the dark ages. Damn no gas no puters looks like Im goin camping

  More fun with witness urban myths.....

  i have heard many urban myths associated with the watchtower society and its hapless adherents.

  i like the one where an "interested one" accepted the invitation to attend the memorial one year, and sat next to a "sister" who let the confused attendee use her bible to look up scriptures as they were presented.

  afterword, the "sister" walked the man up to the circuit overseer, who had delivered the talk that year, and introduced the dupe-filled "study" to the co. the co complimented the man on his spiritual interest and asked what impelled him to come up and talk to him.

  the sister that was working the service territory alone when she went to this killer's house. Of course she didn't know he was a killer. He was going to shoot her when she came to the door. But he saw two big guys standing on each side of her. He decided not to shoot her. But those two big guys next to her were angels and they were protecting her.

  Ive heard this one alot and normaly didnt the avon lady that knocked on the door later get axed.
