Perfection is a cop out so you don't have to accept things the way they are but wish for they way you wished them to be. It's all crap I say.
Let your community be small, with only a few people;
Keep tools in abundance, but do not depend upon them;
Appreciate your life and be content with your home;
Sail boats and ride horses, but don't go too far;
Keep weapons and armour, but do not employ them;
Let everyone read and write,
Eat well and make beautiful things.
Live peacefully and delight in your own society;
Dwell within cock-crow of your neighbours,
But maintain your independence from them.
That's my idea of a perfect life.

Do you think perfection is boring?
by ballistic infrom the perspective of this imperfect world, seeing something perfect would seem quite amazing.
such as the omega particle or whatever it was called in star trek.. but what if you lived in a world (or heaven for that matter) where everything was so perfect that it was extremely predictable, and there was never any point in trying to improve anything or fight for a cause and everyone always had the perfect answer for you?.
maybe that's why "god" created the universe and maybe the universe is a perfect way of experiencing randomness?

Witnesses sit next to me at the theater last night
by seattleniceguy inhad a bizzare experience last night.
i went to see the movie mr. and mrs. smith (which, by the way, was pretty decent).
my girlfriend and i showed up about 20 minutes before the show started, so we picked out some seats and then each went to the restroom in turn while the other watched the seats.

I think it's pg-13....
Still I think either 1/2 way thru the movie I would have annonunced just loud enough to hear that your "Christian upbringing couldn't allow you to watch this violence, sex, language, whatever and walked out.
Or as you were passing them on the way out say just loud enough to your wife.... Man, I thought real Chritians would have walked out on that movie.
EIther way you could have ruined the movie / enjoyment for them. -

My son just went to the hospital
by Undecided inhe has been on several pain medications for his back, he is disabled with it.
he was seeing people outside his house that wasn't there.
he saw an alien in his closet and was talking to it and trying to help it cool down, he was hot himself.

Pain meds are tricky things. Depending on which ones he is taking it sometimes interferes with short term memory. So he may simply have forgotten he had just taken them a little while earlier. He may want to put a check off sheet on the refridgerator or something, so if he isn't sure, he can make sure he has taken / not taken his meds.

Here's my take on marriage. I think marriages fail when people take their spouses for granted. They assume he/she will always be there for them and do not treat each day like it could be their last day together. When we start taking each other for granted like this is when we start feeling "less than special". More like a piece of meat. A possession. Many treat the wedding day like the pinnacle of a relationship when in fact it is the starting point in one. Familarity breeds contempt. Sometimes a little mystery even in a married relationship is good. But I've only been married once and only for 5 weeks...so WTF do I know?

Field service horror/humor stories.
by sonnyboy inthis has probably been done before, but has anyone had any scary or funny things happen to them during field service?
i used to go door-to-door with the most obnoxious elder in the world.
if we approached a house, saw signs of life, but they didn't answer the door, he'd actually go around and knock on their windows!

Apostates commit the unforgivable sin and will NOT be resurrected.
by gumby ini posted this on another thread....but as usual, when i posted it, the thread died and so i thought i'd put it under a different subject as it's worth re-reading.. the society has always said nobody is the judge who commits the dreaded...."unforgivable sin", but they sure the hell do not having any trouble making a statement concerning apostates as commiting the unforgivable sin.. 1982 watchtower 4/1 p.26-28 .
" jesus told the unrepentant scribes and pharisees that they and their gentile proselytes were subjects for gehenna or, literally, sons of gehenna.
(matthew 23:15, 33-35; see also john 9:39-41; 15:22-24.

My folks feel that WTBS is God's communication channel. So if you "change" the channel you turn your back on God. Mind control.....sad, so sad :( -

Did you ever celebrate Christmas, and do you miss it?
by sonnyboy ini see so many people on this board who are angry over what the witnesses took from them.
i often feel the same way, so i try to do something anti-jw every year, which seems to help.
do you know what i'm going to do this year?

Since I've never celebrated Xmas growing up, I've always had a detached clinical view of it. I just really can't get into the spirit of it. It seems as fake as the smiles at the KH. Families getting together for a day or two that normally never speak to each other the rest of the year. I use the time instead to travel somewhere else in the world. That time of the year is slow for me. But even then, it's a bit like watching in the windows of someone. Mildly detached from the goings on of the world. I can't say I miss it per se. I just "miss" what that feels like.
