Hi all - My name is Nelly and I find that I have to STOP myself from logging on sometimes. I say I'll only have one drink (I mean only look for five minutes) and two hours later . . . here I sit!

Cherish the memories - the divorce doesn't make them any less heartwarming or special.

An Observation of the dubs
by KW13 inone thing i've noticed with dubs is that anything that could possibly (no matter how small the link is) be related to the watchtower society, religion or even their own personal beliefs and thoughts - they are suddenly on the defense.. .
today me, my aunt and my mum were at the kitchen table talking about mind control and about how anyone could be made to kill, take their own life, hurt others, believe something e.t.c and mum was disagreeing with that, saying people have a choice.
then suddenly after standing up, when the conversation was nearly over she said "well i dont think i am being controlled" or something like that.

I was in the organization for 35 years. All during that time my brother tried to tell me it was a cult and tried to show me information in support of that . . .
No matter what he said to me wouldn't have mattered - because I never heard him! I wasn't ready to hear him! In order to hear it, your mind has to be open to it. It's called "brain washing" and "mind control" for a reason!

Any help with 8 year old still in?
by megsmomma ini am very sad that i am in this situation.
it is pretty much my own fault that i have this situation...but i didn't know at the time what all the consequenses would entail.
(i got real ddepressed and left my jw husband and da'd myself after i had a baby with him) my daughter is a happy well adjusted kid with a new jw mom and an elder dad.

Your daughter is old enough to reason with.
Rule # 1 - Never outright defame the organization OR HER FATHER for what she is learning from her father.
Rule # 2 - Explain to her that you understand what she is learning and you will always be respectful of the CHOICES that her father makes, but that those are HIS choices and she needs to KNOW that SHE has choices too.
Rule # 3 - Encourage her to ask you questions about what she's learning and tell you about what she feels. Let her know that you will love her no matter what.
Rule # 4 - Make sure that she isn't required to make serious DECISIONS AS A CHILD. (Like getting baptized at the age of nine.)

Highly Recommend Chef Marc's High Heat Turkey Recipe
by JamesThomas infound here: http://www.chefmarc.com/index.
there are videos; and also go down to "other features" for written instructions.. i have followed his instructions the past two years for all the many turkeys baked, and they always come out crispy on the outside and superbly moist on the inside.. i also recommend doing a salt brine soak the night before baking: http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/10-9-2001-5239.asp.
you'll love.

Don't forget to put some fruit in your brine - apples, oranges, lemons all work well. It's more than just salt .

I guess it is possible to over-analyize something!

Last night in Gabbly I asked why celbrate Xmas. The answer I got was, "Because it's fun." Can it really be that simple?
When I apply that logic to other questions, it doesn't work.
Why be faithful? Because it's fun. Why lie? Because it's fun. Why curse? Because it's fun. Why drugs? Because it's fun. Why steal? Because it's fun.
There's got to be more to it than FUN. Why do we do the things we do? Why Christmas?? I'm not saying I'm against it - I just need to know why I should participate. I know why I DIDN'T participate before . . . now I need to know why I should.
