This is an oximoron - nobody thinks they're in a cult. It isn't until you get out that you can see with clear understanding that it was a cult.
Ok - maybe there are some who know that JWs are a cult and are "in" for other reasons. But they're not really "in" - they're "leading double lives." No true believer wants out.
i met this man 17 years ago - new to the city, he was an elder in the congregation.
his personality was warm and loud - (a new yorker, of course) -- i had left home, but i was reminded of home every time he opened his mouth.
one of the most endearing things about him was the way he pronounced jehovah - with an "er" at the end, more like jehover... boy was he loud and warm.

i know mine has.
i went back to my flat earlier this afternoon to pick some things up, i am moving out of there slowly, and was carrying a heavy box out to my car when i stumbled and dropped it on my foot.
it wasn't too painful, thankfully, but i came out with a stream of expletives, most of them beginning with f. when i was a jw, even thinking those words would have filled me with shame.

i know i know, i'm so sorry to bug you guys about this but for obvious reasons i can't talk about it with anyone from the congregation and you guys are familiar with the watchtower.
in the watchtower, the woman is expected to be 'chaste.
' so i'm worried that if i decide to marry someone that is a jw if what i did before will be a problem.
Honesty raises a good point. And it can be added to: There are some JW's with very old fashioned views about sex and everything about it.
I'd say, however, that alot of it depends on your age. Younger men, expecially those raised in the org., tend to want their brides to be virgins. Older ones, may not expect the same thing - especially if you're new to the truth.
i love this jehovah witness, and she is driving me crazy with her meetings, watch tower booklets, conventions.
of course i do sometimes go to her weird kingdom hall.
i'm finding stuff about her i hate, like...only go on dates shaberoned don't drive with a singel guy and a single girl cus it looks bad they say.
K - Even if she wasn't a JW my advice would be the same. End the relationship. We all have issues and pasts, but this is more. Her mental health issues will always be a cause of drama in your relationship - when you add THAT together with the indoctrination of being a JW, you have a combination that you obviously aren't capable of handling. This is absolutely no disrespect to you - but you're here looking for advice, right? Take it - end things before you find yourself trapped.

MsM - no I'm not disfellowshipped or disassociated -- just disillusioned and distant
I didn't leave on a bad note with the congregation. I just left. Surprisingly, no one has shunned me publically, but then again - I really haven't ran into many of them for a while.
The reality of it is that I left of my own free will. If they were to decide to shun me, they would be doing me no harm. If I wanted to be there, I'd be there. It's a very comfortable place for me - knowing what I know.
