Worldly - I think you misread my entry. None of my worldly friends have left me - only my witness ones. My worldly friends now understand my previous hesitancy in my relationships with them and now embrace my full friendship with open arms.

What are JW's taught about friendships with worldlies?
by Worldly ini'm new to posting here, but i've been lurking for awhile trying to find out more about the jw life, as i have a dear friend who is a jw, but there are many things i don't understand about him, and how he treats our friendship.
i came right out and asked him once if it was true that he was not allowed to be friends with people outside of his religion, and he said "no, but we are encouraged to spend our time with "like-minded" people and that he had other friends besides me who weren't jw.
we met at work and seemed to be very close, but i've always felt some aloofness.

Franz and a "New" Witness Organization?
by Nellie in.
this strikes me as typical "apostate phobia propaganda" - but a "witness" just told me that ray franz started a "new order of jehovah's witnesses" after he was disfellowshipped.. is there any truth to this?

Welcome to the Board - I began with the "truth" at 8, baptized at 13 and survived my teens while active. I'll email you shortly.
Congratulations - today is the first day of the rest of your life.

446 Attended Frank's Services
by Nellie ini couldn't believe it - there were 446 people at the memorial services for frank - and only two real confrontations!
one from someone i barely know who said, "it's nice to see you here, even though i don't see you at the meetings.
" to which i said, "i want to be here..." that successfully shut him up!.

Frank was really one of the good guys.
If you put the witness thing aside, how much more could you want than to think that almost 450 people cared enough to come to a service in your honor. Especially since he had moved away and around 250 people drove 2 hours away to attend. Let me tell you, there aren't THAT many people who could get me to do that!
It was nice seeing some people I haven't seen in years - both because I'm not attending and because some of them moved away. Two comments aside, no one shunned us. I can't wait to really see if there is any fallout - especially since my husband is now sporting a nice little beard! (I was afraid he was going to punk out and shave it for the services, but he didn't.) Talk about making a statement! Let the games begin!

Do JWs Consider You To Be An "Apostate"?
by minimus inwe all know that our simply being here is considered an act of apostasy by witnesses.
whether they know you frequent such boards or not, are you considered an "apostate" by the witnesses?

If these people keep asking me questions, it's a definite probability that it's in my future!

The other comment was from someone I once counted among my closest friends (she was even present in the delivery room with me once) - she NOW wants to know why I've stopped coming to the meetings ... Actually, I can't believe she told me this - apparently someone else said to her "have you seen Nellie - she's here?" and she said "Yeah, right" and the other woman said - "no, really, she's here." So she comes out and finds me and then tells me she's been asking about me and wanted to know why I hadn't called her. I told her that I'd given up on calling her because she never returned my calls and she obviously had been asking the wrong people about me. I told her that my phone number hasn't changed in 17 years and that I still lived in the same place - if she wanted to find out about me, it wasn't hard!
The chances of her actually calling me are slim to none. I told her that if she really wanted answers, I'd give them to her - but I knew she wouldn't like them. So ... we'll see - but I'm not holding my breath! -

The borg has stock in Phillip Morris???? cigarettes???
by kittyeatzjdubs inbut since the majority of the dubs are braindead and don't know about the true reasons for the wts joining the un as an ngo, or the randcam and phillip morris stock they own, they just sit there listening to all this crap and believe it all, all the while feeling superior to other religions.
ic posted the above comment in metatron's stupid watchtower article thread.... is this true???
are they really that bold?

How could they SELL it - that would mean profiting from immoral means! No, I'm sure they filed it away somewhere and forgot about it. (I wonder how much it's worth today?)

Did anyone hear the expression- If it was`nt for Jehovah I wouldnt stick it
by jambon1 inwhere i live it`s common to hear the brothers/sisters say 'if it wasnt for jehovah i wouldnt be here' - refering to the fact that they are fed up, sick of everyone and they are only staying in the truth for jehovah.
it is normally uttered after a fight in the cong or when someone has done something bad/brought bad publicity etc.
naturally, it is said with a dgree of head shaking.. does this not contradict the idea of a worldwide, supportive & loving brotherhood exsisting among jw's?.

Very good point. But then again, that's what the great org has drilled into us. We are serving Jehovah, we are serving Jehovah, we are serving Jehovah, man is imperfect, Jehovah is perfect, wait on Jehovah, Jehovah will straighten out all matters in due time, you are serving Jehovah - not man, don't allow man to come between you and Jehovah, wait on Jehovah...
Well I for one decided to stop waiting and start living. If Jehovah brings a new system, I take comfort in knowing that He knows my heart. THAT'S how I choose to wait on Him.

This question is not meant to be..well..weird but....
by stillAwitness indo any of you parents and/or sons and daughters feel weird about sleeping in the same bed as your parent and/or son or daughter?
is there a certain age that this behavior becomes inappropriate?
i ask this because the c.o and his wife that are staying with us this week: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/107349/1.ashx brought along their 18 year old daugher.

Stilla - Honey, I must admit that I'm kinda confused by your confusion.
I would never expect a man and wife to share their bedroom with another adult - including their own child. There is a considerable difference between a child of 8 and an adult of 18. Did your family know she was coming before her arrival? Was there a reason your parents didn't offer her the couch?
I have to agree with some of the other posters and say I would have thought it was "weird" for her to share their bed. Of course, she could have always made a pallat on the floor of their bedroom, if it wasn't possible for her to be in another room.
