I got to a couple of dozen and let it go. I have realised that the good stuff they brought into my life was outweighed by the bad stuff. Now that I've seen how they treat people, what they're really like, I don't want them back. You know who your real friends are when you're true to yourself!

How many family members or close friends did you lose to the Watchtower?
by JH inbecause of their shunning policy how many family members or good friends did the watchtower take away from you?.
in my case, i'd say 4 good friends were lost because of the watchtower shunning policy.
luckily, i had no family members there

WTS says that JW children are better educated
by Lady Lee ini can't find the quote for this but i remember being told that jw children were way ahead of their classmates when it came to reading and spelling.
both my daughters knew how to read before they got to school.. i remember writing school reports and using the awake!
for my research.

Who Has Read..'Bible Code 2 The Countdown'?
by Legolas ini am only on page 23 and so far i must say wow
it has predicted, for the year 2006, a an atomic holocaust!
i will keep posting ...lol...every time i find something interesting!

I read Bible Code 1, and thought it was insane. Still it did open my mind up to other ways of thinking, and importantly it helped me see the insanity of what I was believing at the time.
You can't verify it because you don't speak Hebrew. And surely it depends on who was writing the manuscript, and comes down to how big their characters were (they have to line up for it to be a code).
Get any copy of say the complete works of shakespeare, draw five hundred lines through every page, and you'll probably see that one of them crosses 'atomic holocaust in 2006' too.

the seven year itch
by Crumpet inex -mr crumpet and i after just shy of 8 years together have found we are arguing more and more and have decided to split up.
since we made the decision on monday this week we have been getting on like a house on fire.
the arguments have stopped, he is on time for all his appointments to meet, which hasn't happened in years, he phones if he's going to be late and i have stopped being a moody cow and drinking all his wine without permission.. the hope is that we will get back together and find eahc other attractive again after a break from one another.

Oh crumpet, here you are with your heart breaking and some little cauliflower-eared nerd calls you on how you think you might like girls?? What a tool! I'm sorry we have people like that spoiling our paradise here. I ignore them, they remind me too much of when I was an idiot, it's embarassing.
You are such a hottie, if I didn't think it would feed Mr Frass' fetish I'd lick you too! :D
I'm so sorry you're going through this, it sucks. I hope it works out in some way, I don't know if the 'break for now' concept will work if as you say, he's over it because he hasn't got a little princess to save any more. That's sad for him and you. Still it's good that you're at least getting a little peace at home.
How long until you're able to move out, if it comes to that?
Sounds like you've got some bad times ahead. Keep your head clear and look after Crumpet. We're all batting for you here (whichever team you choose!).

Ever meet someone in the field service who knew their bible better than you
by JH in.
once a brother told me that he knocked at a door, and it was a catholic priest who lived there, and that brother thought that he knew his bible better than that priest, so he showed him a couple of verses to prove that the jw's had the truth, but that brother didn't expect the priest to know his bible that well, and the brother didn't win his biblical debate.... wouldn't it be fun if more people knew their bible really well, and could use the bible to make the jw's go away... .
gee, i hated that when i knocked at a door, and the person would go get their bible, and i saw that they had a decent knowledge of it... usually i left quite fast.

I thank every one of them, because piece by piece they showed me that I was wrong, and hadn't yet seen it.

Are you allowed to fall asleep at the meetings now??
by stillAwitness inthe sercuit overseer gave the expierence about an interested one who would come to the meetings every sunday but admitted he would always fall asleep because he worked a double shift at work the night before.
the s.o said: "and sure enough he fell asleep during my talk.
" but he said that it was so encouraging because even though he worked the night before he still tried to get what little he could of the talk and the guy related afterwards: "i would not want to be caught falling asleep anywhere else but at the hall.

A bit OT, but these days I blame the meetings for my attention problem; I was so good at tuning them out and just planning my life, getting lost inside my head while the guys gave their little talks. Now I find it so difficult not to do that when listening to something important, like my boss, or a lecture...
If I hadn't been to (just did the maths) about 5000 meetings in my life, I might have achieved a lot more learning in my time.

My Sercuit Overseer is a JERK!
by stillAwitness inwell my sercuit overseer visit was this week and this guy is a real a-hole.
apparently our mic handlers are pretty slow.
they always take forever to give the mic to the hand-raiser and sometimes even forget to turn the stupid things on first.

I remember a servant and his wife who were allergic to so many things, they sent a list to everybody who was rostered to cook for them. I think they got a lot of salad.
