My years as a Social Misfit - memories come flooding back!
by Princess Daisy Boo inso i was on facebook last night and just started randomly searching names and checking out people i knew, their profiles and friends etc and i came across a whole bunch of names of jw people i knew as a teenager.
a whole host of memories came flooding back, unpleasant and happily forgotten memories.. ... feeling lonley, unpopular, gossip, cliquiness, bitchy comments, feeling like i would never attract a suitable "brother" for courtship and other such silliness.... i went to bed feeling very disturbed and sad and uncomfortable and i had a horrible night.
but the fact is, i am now an adult and i am generally well liked by most i meet (or so i think .

Best Concert you ever went to!!!
by purplesofa inim listening to moody blues right now, remembering a concert i went to of theirs in the early 90's when i lived in missouri.
it was by far the best concert i even have been to....they are not my favorite group but i do like them.
i wish i could bottle that night up and bring it out to play again and again.

I think it's awesome that you are honest and upfront and not willing to sacrifice anything in life just to keep the peace. I just want you to be emotionally prepared for the ugliness that is just about to happen. They might run a JC without you there. Be ready for some ugly conversations with JW family; don't go on the defence, just go for the long-term plan, which is for everybody to live and let live.
I don't know what it is about witness parents who think that throwing their children away will bring their children closer to them. How can anybody be that deluded and manipulative? I've just tracked down a friend I had at age 16 who was df'd and thrown out on the street at that age. Her stupid parents thought they were doing her a favour and she's been to hell and back since. My parents call it Tough Love. It hasn't worked out for them either.
If your parents (or in-laws) can't change their role in your lives from Parent to Friend, they won't have a role in your lives, and that's their own choice. They have lived their lives and made their choices. Now it's your turn. Live well, Lady!

oliver is suffering so bad and all we can do is hold him now.

the service meeting was just a sales meeting.
the book studies were simply ridiculous.

by changeling inespecially if they are the militant, bitter type...are they wanting you to undergo the hardships they've been through?.
are they secretly jealous of those who have faded and have kept their family together?.

I think it's good that people get a very broad spectrum of opinion on something like 'what to say to the elders'. Somebody will hit on the idea that is going to work best for them. To be honest I think that there aren't any people here who believe there could only be one solution to a problem like that. People only tell what they would do, because that's what has or would work for them. I don't believe we have anybody here who is totally polarised. I think we just catch people in a dark moment.
