I get the feeling that this isn't over, and probably never will be. Now this is hard but think of it as a long game; she wants no contact, give her no contact. In a few years she'll think about what that means. In the meantime have yourself a fabulous life!
i just missed two meetings for the first time in five years.. this past week i went "on vacation", housesitting for relatives nearby.
i told my bookstudy overseer i'd be "away", even though i was only a twenty minute drive from the kingdom hall.
i spent the entire week away from my insane family, away from the meetings and away from my "brothers and sisters".. it felt great.. coming home felt... not so great.. but the first brick in my fade has been laid.
Hey congratulations, and welcome!! Definitely go slowly. It's going to get maddening, and it will probably become a slow torture. I was dfd and I couldn't say which way is worse; I think that either way you do end up losing just about everybody, but if you fade out successfully, it just won't all happen at once. There are some major changes about to happen in your life, get ready for them. You can do that by taking up a lot of new interests.

this week i got in the mail two birthday cards from non-jw aunt and grandma who are apparently delighted that there's a niece and granddaughter out there to whom they can send birthday cards.
also got an invite to my cousins wedding.
Thanks all. I realised that to be honest, my main motivation is that it's the only chance I'll get to hurt my JW siblings, and it won't even work - they outnumber me. I know that this is an appalling reason to go to a wedding, but I'm surprised at how compelling it is. Fortunately the reasonable part of me overrides the small part that yearns for some kind of revenge. Clearly I have a long way to go before I can forgive them all. I'll have to get that looked at.
Hey dee, we did another day at Perisher on Sunday, and this weekend is the anniversary weekend, and we're going again on the way back on Monday! Mr Frass got himself a $26 pair of ex-rental skis, and when he finds some boots he'll be fully kitted up. We had this deal that if after five days on the snow he still despises it he never has to go back. By the end of the fourth he was hooked! I got me a snow bunny!!

my friend and i decided to ride together, and break off from the group because we were hungry, thirsty, and mentally screwy.

so anyway i sent a reply saying how are you?
etc.. she then sent me another message to say how she was doing and then finished it with 'am i remembering correctly you're are in the truth?'.
Don't go in with the list of 100 things that are wrong with JWs, just pick one (or maybe two) that you think would matter to her, and try to keep the friendship alive. My opinion with these things is that everything we do has to have the long game in mind. It took a thousand things to get me thinking, and many years.
the current growth of jws no longer exceed the population growth, and in many educated countries it is now stagnant.

UGH tell me about it... I think it was the second time through that I started writing little diary entries in the page margins which were very interesting to read on the third time through. When they announced the fourth time through I stopped attending the book study. And how about the Daniel book? Talk about a coma.

Hi Deborah: it sounds like you're going through a bad time. Before I left it sounded to me like a big question to ask: "Where Can I Possibly Go To?", but on this side of it all happening I can honestly tell you that you can safely go just about everywhere and you'll find people who will be able to help and support you through this process of moving on from JWs. The best suggestion I got was to take things slowly, and to be open-minded about the new friends I make. That is don't just look at church - look into lots of new hobbies and interests. Think about your talents and how you can work on them, and hook up with people who enjoy the same thing. Take up as many new things as you can and the more active you are about it, the more likely you are to make close friends.
today i decided to write my mom and sister, who are currently occupied with shunning me, a letter of good-bye.
seems to me that this should bring me somewhat of a closure to this whole jw business.
i probably won't send this out until next week.
That is beautiful. Not just because it will get through their thick barrier for even just a second, but mostly because you'll be able to let go. My only suggestion: move the part in the beginning to the end or further on, just so they don't stop reading right there.
my situation is a little different than most.the only family i have in the borg are my in-laws who don't care much for me any way.
while my husband has studied off and on for years and is currently attending most meetings, he has never felt "ready" to get baptized.. i was in the truth (gag) for 10 years, went through a bad divorce from an unbeliever and disassociated myself , i was depressed, worn out and felt guilty for not being able to keep up with the "do more" bs.
i still believed and blamed myself.
I really hope that it goes well for you. In a long time you'll be very glad. You've got a bit of an ugly short-term ahead. You know where to find us.
