I haven't had time to read all the posts, but the purpose of me coming here is I've learned a lot of great information on why the JW religion is a cult, is very negative, it takes away people's lives literally/emotionally/spiritually.
And I like helping people who have questions on what it's like to live in that terrible religion, and give comfort to those who are being shunned by their families--even if they were never baptised as a JW, which is VERY un-Christlike and EVIL.
my daughter told me about her first hbo routine on 10/14/06.. i didn't see it and had never heard of her before.
my daughter is going to tape the show for me.. she said it was very funny!.

I've seen some of her stuff on TV and she is very funny! I think it's partly the way she talks, she's a funny lady!
for anybody who attended the service meeting this week (or will this week)
notice the guilt-fest article that mentions not working overtime at work or taking weekend trips and missing the meetings.
ugh, any former witnesses remember looking down on people who went to the beach or took trips frequently on the weekends.
I remember being forced to have Watchtower studies when I went on vacation with my JW friends family--UGH
i left the dubs about 10 yrs ago.... but didn't celebrate xmas until about 7yrs ago.
even then i didn't get a tree... just kept it simple.. do it all now!
love it.. even if it's not christs birthday..... who cares?????
Also--I remember how guilty JWs feel if they look around at the pretty Pagan lights! Stooooopid!

I LOVE the holidays!!! Thanksgiving and Christmas--I love to make fancy dinners that make the house so cozy and smell yummy! I love all the lights everywhere at Christmas, and love to drive around town looking at the fancy holiday light displays! I am always sad when everything has to be put away, but knowing that I get to do it all over again in one year makes it better.
Also my parents are getting up in years, my dad is 88 next month, so I appreciate every holiday I spend with him. I will be sad when my folks are not around to enjoy the holidays.
with all the ridiculous hype amongst the dubs about how this new tract is going to help bring about "the end", i thought it would be beneficial to highlight how often they've been crying that the sky is falling in the last 1/2 century:.

my jw roommate and i were watching boston legal the other night and one case was about someone being fired for their religious beliefs.
when one of the lawyers was talking to the jury, he mentioned many religions and the odd, quirky things about them.
he did mention that if you were a jehovah's witness you couldn't buy girl scout cookies.
Yes I seem to recall that many JWs in my area frowned upon buying Girl Scout cookies. It went along with not joining the YMCA, and not attending school functions, and all the other BS. Looking back, it seems SOOOO STUUUUPID!!!
this man molested at least 50 kids, many of them jw's in the early to mid 80's some in alaska in the early 90's.

:) there are 8 and my oldest son has the only two g/sons that i have.. we were lost to each other before i left the wts, because when i lived in california and he lived in colorado springs, we both moved at the same time and we each had unlisted numbers.. i'm very, very pleased and excited.

i was just remembering how when i lost my non-jw brother when i was a teenager, that my witness friends were not very supportive when he died.
he died in his sleep at age 22, and he was a very nice person.

Then the Watchtower had articles years later about how it was ok to grieve a lost loved one, and that some people take longer than others to heal. That pissed me off, because I thought to myself--why do I need the Watchtower to tell me how long I have permission to grieve for a lost loved one?
