Does Anyone Feel Stuck In Their Job?
by love2Bworldly indoes anyone hate their job but feel like they would be throwing away a good thing if they quit?
i'm working at my 3rd state agency in 4 years and have been unhappy at every one of them--usually because i don't have enough work to do and feel like a hamster on a wheel waiting for the paycheck, and i'm so bored!.
i'm scared to quit the state job because i have a large family, and this affords me great medical benefits and retirement benefits.. any advice?

Thanks for the responses. My plan is to start taking classes this year, and cut back my hours so I can spend more time with my kids. When I retire, I want to have my own business--maybe a roach coach (goodie wagon) or a coffee shop stand. But anyway, I guess I am just so verrrrrrrry bored right now, it's hard waiting.

weird reasoning...
by zaphod ina cousin of mine was married to a brother at seventeen for two years.
they both pioneered and were, evidently, a happy spiritual couple.. my cousin realised that she had made a huge mistake marrying this brother, as they both were hormonally charged teenagers who had followed paul's advice to get married if they could not go without sex.
she just did not love him any more and she felt trapped by the jw stance on divorce.. this was her escape plan:.

When I divorced my first husband, who was not a JW, the elders told me I had to turn in a written note that he had slept with other women so I could have a scriptural divorce. My husband agreed to write the note and I turned it in.
That is so wacko. I knew another sister who was told the same thing, however her spouse refused to write the note. She found blood stains on her husbands underwear and used that as proof to the elders (the understanding was that he had sex with a woman on her period).
How humiliating to be under a microscope like that! I know God did not mean for us to live this way. Only God can read hearts, not the idiotic elders. And it is none of their damn business whether a person has a scripturally 'proven' divorce or not, it's between you and God.

This is one of my favorite posts, it could go on for many days.
I like the mini-article in the Watchtower after the movie ET came out. It said that ET was not a good movie because his finger was a phallic symbol, and he also was likened to Jesus because he healed and was resurrected after they thought he died.
Stuuuuuuupid! That one really burned me up. I loved that movie and thought it was a pretty innocent movie, other than the beginning when the kids said "shut up penis breath" or something like that. LOL My best friend laughed at the show because she thought he said "peanut breath", I giggled for days over that one. The Witnesses with her at the show gave her a dirty look because she laughed.

I think the first anti-JW site I looked at was Watchman, then Watch the Tower by Paul Blizzard-ex Bethelite, then my daughter found this website and a few weeks ago I came on board and started posting. At first I was terrified someone was going to find out who I was, but I've been out for many years. My only regret is that if my sister finds out, she will shun me like she used to when I was disfellowshipped. Since I got reinstated and became a fader, we have developed a relationship again. The rest of my family are not JWs.

Why did Jesus make a reference to hell doctrine?
by cyborgVision ini personally do not, never have or ever will believe in hell.
my religions feelings are littlebit hazy at the moment.
but even when i did believe with all my heart i found it difficult to believe in a god that would promote some sort of perpetual concentration camp.

I have been struggling with this since I left the JW's. What puzzles me though is that the WBTS teaches hell is not literal, yet other things like the number 144,000 to go to heaven is taken literally.
I do believe in God and the Bible, but I often feel that no one can really be sure of how prophecies are going to be fulfilled etc. Book of Revelation is a real puzzler, there is so much symbolism and yet it speaks of hellfire.
I am praying that one day I will understand these things, but for the present I am unsure of my beliefs. Part of this is I am skeptical of anything after all the BS from the WBTS, that's the mark it has left on me is to be unsure of anything.

Any advice? I have to work 16 more years to be able to retire with medical benefits. I am currently 42.

Slow Fade Progresses
by TheListener ini wanted to give everyone an update on the current state of my slow fade.
i live in an environment that is hostile to the slow fade so i usually speak in general terms.
this time i plan to give just a little bit more information so i can heal myself as i go through this process.. i have doubted for several years (about 3).

My heartfelt sympathies to you elders. It is devastating when you first leave the JWs, and sometimes takes years to heal. I'll keep you in my prayers, if you feel fading is the right thing for you--then continue. It's pretty much what I did but it was after I was disfellowshipped and reinstated, so I guess by then I was marked and nobody cared less when I stopped going to the KH.
When I was disfellowshipped, one of the elders was looking at me very sympathetically and said "thanks for being so honest", the others had looks of disgust on their faces. The sympathetic elder was disfellowshipped not long after me, so I guess he was feeling my pain. I was 21 and got drunk at an office Christmas party! Since a Witness at my job found out and was going to tattle on me, I felt compelled to have a meeting with the elders. I was very honest and said I just do not want to do this anymore (JW). So then they said the 'charge' was public drunkeness and disfellowshipped me. I tell you I had the greatest time at that party! I have great memories of it and don't regret it at all. I guess when I wanted to leave, I wanted to go out with a bang and I sure did.
